Bill, Congrats !...........like a newborn eh! Very impressive and your VTOL Tower is a clever idea. Now to see how it handles in the great outdoors, my feeling is, this may well be the HL game changer platform. Well done thus far, now get a cam onboard a let us drool over a 5D MKlll...

Prop loading affecting Video quality ?

They certainly command some popularity, they were recommended to me by another user as being the MRC props of choice but I share your reservations. I found them to be extremely brittle and if a blade of grass as much as looked at it oftentimes it would result in a chip. I am going to try others...

Prop loading affecting Video quality ?

Whilst waiting for some new APC 1047's to arrive I could not resist the good flying weather so I decided to use try the Gaui stock props. I think they are GWS 0845, I was conscious of the limitations with regard to lifting capabilities so I exercised some caution and stripped the self built...

The Powerscourt Estate is situated in one of the most picturesque areas of Co Wicklow which is south of Dublin. I am based in North Co. Dublin, by the coast (20 mins drive north of Dublin Airport ) where all the Golf Clubs are. I am a PGA Pro, actually bought a MinAir Spectra G Heli 5 yrs ago...

Haha ! If only it was,............it would be a great spot for a MRF meet and fly. It's called Newbridge House, Donabate Co. Dublin, a 350 acre Estate and I use it for test flying. A supply of stills to the Local Council and permission granted, it's as good as having your own flying field...

Dave, They are very nice shots...........the NEX 5 is a great AP cam but the GoPro HD has a lot going for it but for commercial use the NEX 5 would be my choice. My GoPro HD is stock and the shots are raw from the cam, no PP. Here is about as bad as I get with the fisheye lense ...

The 'Golf Shot' was from a few days ago and here is another from our snowfall at Christmas. These are in Photo mode at 2 secs. I get a lot of keepers from this mode when I eyeball the composition with the aid of my rear mounted 'Orientation Ball'. I hover in position and let the GoPro HD do...

Keeping with the Golfing theme.......here is one from my local Links captured by my trusty stock Gopro, not that you couldn't tell..........the curved horizon is a giveaway.

Futaba DM8 Module with AR7000 problem?

Ken, What is strange, is that I moved the Rx to the other side and now it is closer to wiring and components and more cramped in its location. If anything I would expect issues from this positioning but to run two packs through without a problem was a welcome relief. Perhaps it is too...

Futaba DM8 Module with AR7000 problem?

I converted my Futaba 9C to Spektrum but have been experiencing problems of late. In the last month I have had a series of 'Brownouts' and the suggestion from Spektrum was to install a capacitor to avoid low voltage. This I did, but it made no difference, what I did do in a state of desperation...

    Hybrid flight goggles

Ken & Bart, Yeah,...........the leaking light is the main drawback with the MyVu 301's. I was thinking of some neoprene on the lower part of the lense so it would compress against my upper cheek...........maybe that's not dorky enough:) I think you're on the right lines with the ski...

    Hybrid flight goggles

Ken, I have these MyVu Shades 301 for a while now. They are a nice package and function well. They will require a bit of adjustment on ones nose(well on mine anyway !) to permit a good view of the screen. The only drawback as previously stated is the light washing out the screens. As...

    DX 8 telemetry

Pretty sure my issues were as a result of 'brown outs' in fact there is video evidence from another Spektrum user simulating a 'brown out' which occured at 3.9 volts ? This is a bit disconcerting, I am going to fit one of these to see if it helps matters...

    DX 8 telemetry

No shortage of power on that one................. I would check out your DX8 power, leads and connections. The fact that it was dead and came to life with some stick stirring suggests it may be a loose connection. If all appears OK with the battery, leads and connections then I would get it back...

    DX 8 telemetry

Dave, That's a pain...........had a mishap myself and it's occuring too frequently. I have a Futaba 9C with a Spektrum DM8 Module and I lost a Rx signal which puts the UAVX into failsafe. I was retreating rearward at about 30ft at the time of the loss. Gladly, my homemade suspension...

    Video from Hoverfly quad

Interesting...................I wonder if a wide angle adapter is available or could be modified to bring a bit more FOV to the Sunex lense ? It appears that GoPro are not interested in this idea, our AP/AV needs are much different to their target market. Here is a frame grab from a recent...

    Video from Hoverfly quad

Agreed, the curves really spoil the image but that is a feature of 'Fisheye' lenses. It is really evident how much distortion there is from the 'flagpoles'. A stock GoPro and a Sunex GoPro stacked atop each other would be good for a comparison......... is this 'Sunex' the best choice of...

    Video from Hoverfly quad

Ken, Very nice ! no real loss of impact with the Sunex lense mod. What is the FOV ? For comparison, here is a recent shot from a local Castle during our uncharacteristic 'Snow' last Christmas. It is not so much the curved horizon that bothers me as they can usually be cropped but rather...
