    Endurance

Hello Denny, There is no GoPro on the frame yet but he is planning to add one: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=26784278&postcount=1738 I strongly doubt that these cells are used in F1, since the max discharge rating is 2C for Kers there is a bit more needed (complete discharge in...

X8 owners - do not use Wookong firmware v5.26

My personal strategy: use 5.08 FW never use PPM Never change any FW in the system just because there is a new one, ony if you need one of the new features. Since 5.08 I am waiting for a stable FW, but there has not been any (possibly 5.16) best regards Ferdinand

    Coaxial Boom Spacing/Mixer question... asymmetrical?

There your COG should be (as well as your FC if it is not capable to compensate being off center) best regards Ferdinand I am sorry to use your picture having not asked, if you do not like this please tell me and I will remove it.

    Coaxial Boom Spacing/Mixer question... asymmetrical?

There is no problem to fly such a copter, but your batteries will have to move (a lot) to the rear end of the copter.

    Coaxial Boom Spacing/Mixer question... asymmetrical?

@Bartman Nobody said, that CW on top and CCW on bottom will not work, but if you mix the props on top and bottom it will just work better, give it a try. @multirotorxy8 Probably you should once again start with the basic tests, all motors connected to the correct ports of the FC, mixer...

    Coaxial Boom Spacing/Mixer question... asymmetrical?

I would mix CW and CCW on top and bottom plane. Also I would check once more the alignment of the motors should be less than 0,5° off. But if all that is done I strongly doubt that this will fly nicely with the COG so far off the geometrical center. best regards Ferdinand

    Zenmuse Z-15

You will hardly (never) get this to work, send it to your dealer for repair. Even if you get such a part you will damage the contacts again if you try to reassemble the gimbal.

    Mikrokopter Coaxial experts

Your motors are not sufficiently leveled, you have to improve that. If you power consumption of CW & CCW is almost the same (on top and bottom) your motors are sufficiently leveled. best regards Ferdinand

    X8 Thrust Vectoring

The best you can do for good yaw reaction/stability is to level the motors (the error should be smaller than 0,5°). If you want to turn your motors a few degrees, that does not help in stability/reaction, it does help with "force", so if you have a big and heavy rig (with big and heavy payload)...

Do you think the FAA will have a problem with my new FPV rig?

Awaiting FPV-upgrade: Here it will be a bit difficult because of the wires on the plane: And this one is already equipped with FPV: If you once flew FPV, LOS does not make a lot of sense any more, but if you flew FPV, shape, color, details, size of the airplane/copter behind does not...

X8 vs. flat octo redundancy comparison.

On a octo (X8 or flat) there are 4 propeller CW turning, and 4CCW if the 4CW turn faster, the 4CCW turn slower, the copter turns CCW, if the 4CCW turn faster, the 4CW slower the copter turn CW, that is how YAW works, this has nothing to do with koax or not. lg Ferdl

I am using the standard motor mixer, but I use CW and CCW mixed on top and bottom. best regards Ferdinand

    Naza and large propeller proplem???

I am flying various setups with 18", 17", 14" propeller based Naza V1, Naza V2, there is no noticeable difference between them. Also I am using various types of motors, Tigers, Multistar, rctimer 5010, ..., there is no "switch" inside the Naza that tells the FC, "uh, big copter, stop working"...

    Naza and large propeller proplem???

That has nothing to do with the Naza. Quad with Naza with 17" props: X8 with Naza and 18" props best regards Ferdinand

X8 vs. flat octo redundancy comparison.

@jes1111 I use the same on top and bottom, ... let the FC handle it ... @Stacky This (1,35kg) copter can carry 2kg payload so 1,35kg copter+ 1,65kg battery + 2kg payload gives 5kg AUW and 30min flightime best regards Ferdinand

X8 vs. flat octo redundancy comparison.

That is the old story, people building flat octos claim that they are more efficient (compared to X8), and people (like me) building X8 claim, that the loss in efficiency can be covered by weight reduction. I can build a frame for a 5kg (AUW) X8 with 150gr (14" props) , I am afraid, no flat octo...

Designing a multi-rotor for very high endurance

Can you see the pictures in post #2? I think 70min with 500gr payload on a quad with 1kg and 1,5kg battery is possible. Also I already would have (a pretty ugly) copter, that is able to do so, this one can (4kg copter) can take 4kg payload with 4kg battery (so 12kg AUW) for 44min in the air...

Designing a multi-rotor for very high endurance

@R_Lefebvre What I am saying is, that at the moment I have two copter that can do such things and fly for about 40min. If you want redundancy (in case of a motor failure) you have to pay for this. I think with a quad you can get 70min, with an X8 50min, possibly one hour, with some reasonable...

Designing a multi-rotor for very high endurance

Possibly it would be helpful to tell us about your aim in terms of endurance. The IR-Cam (e.g. Flir Tau + Standard cam + BL Gimbal) is about 1kg payload, if you reduce to tilt only, you can possibly reduce to 500gr payload. Since the Equipment is very expensive (IR-Cam) I would think of a...
