Inspire battery capacity rapidly drops in flight

The only real parameter of interest of a LiPo is the Voltage under load. So DJI did not rely on the voltage (as is is a lot to explain, voltage can go down, can come up again, ...) and did the Battery using capacity and current measuring. But since they are aware of the problem there it is just...

Revisit a age old debate, Esc's mounted on the arms.

It is 16motors with 16esc, but 2 escs are controled by 1 FC-motorchannel each. http://multirotorforums.com/threads/tiger-motors-u8-28x9-2-props.12966/page-19 best regards Ferdinand

@ProfEngr That is why it is important to think and calculate before and not after the build, and this if were the efficiency comes in, and if you have quite a number of motors, you do not need to power all of them from one source. This small X16 with 14" propellers, 4S setup (where you can see...

This are two of my wire trees: Here a drawing of the wire tree of my first X16: So my solution is soldering and crimping. best regards Ferdinand

Revisit a age old debate, Esc's mounted on the arms.

I think, there are a lot of things mixed up in this topic. First (and to me most important) is, that the copter is a flying vehicle. So flying vehicles depend heavily on their weight. If you set an action (or have to take a decision) you always have to think if this action will increase weight...

Yes, I always have alternating CW and CCW in one plane and CW CCW on one arm. This is of course independent on the FC. Here an X12 with a KK-board: before it was a Naza: The only point on my X16s is, that the FC needs to be able to be placed far off the center (important for ACC and GPS)...

The future of "Stand Alone"Multirotor Flight Controllers- A Trend? The End?

I have not seen any product to be discontinued (only the DJI ACE one which was not really a bestseller, and it still does work, only if you buy a new Laptop the groundstation-software will no longer work). But if all stand alone FC vanish, we will take 3 gyros, and an acc (possibly start with...

This here is a Gopro with 60° lens on a modifyed Zemuse (balanced) If you want to chase a racer, you have to fly a racer, there is no other choice Here chasing a glider with 120° FOV but whatever you do and whatever you plan it is hard to beat a P3 (in price and quality): best regards...

@Old Man The days of "wet starts" have long gone, if you do not something severely wrong, you cannot produce a wet start. Nevertheless a fire extinguisher is mandatory when dealing with gas-turbines. @ProfEngr Turbine, mounting and fuel for the moment 4kg, so I could still take 4kg payload...

if you would fly in GPS yes, I have to admit, that I have to learn flying with this thing (hope it lives long enough), but the aim is of course to fly that in manual mode (to get out the full potential.). best regards Ferdinand
