Going up is easy, it's bringing it back down that's the hardest part. I always feel like it's not coming back down fast enough. Data link helps that a lot.

Damn it, I knew that and somehow still got it backwards. I suppose that was the problem. Both Z index settings were backwards. I'm surprised I was able to hover at all! Thanks. I'll have another go at it tomorrow, but I suspect this one will work much better. -Terry

Everything looks great like GPS level etc. I'm suspicious of my mounting measurements. Let me ask you a stupid question... which way is negative for the offset numbers? If I have my GPS dead center, but 10 cm above the COG, is that a z-index rating of 10, or -10? It's possible that I have them...

    Stupid question about mounting offset

Ok, stupid question here. Which way does the mounting offset go in the assistant? If I have my GPS in the dead center of the frame 10 cm above the COG, would that be a setting of 10, or -10? I'm just double checking something here, but I appreciate someone verifying this for me. Thanks in...

Kentjjl, that looked pretty cool actually... I might have to try that speed once I get everything sorted! Here is the video I mentioned. You can see that it goes through auto-takeoff and hovers for a few seconds before leaving for the first waypoint. When it leaves hover it starts rocking real...

Ok, I made some progress tonight. First off, I figured out why I was having problems yesterday. I'm using a new netbook for the GCS, and I guess DJI didn't think about that when they developed the software. Every time I try to open something that has an extra window (Click and Go mode, Set Home...

Nice video! I have another question for you. What's the "speed" input that it asks for when setting a waypoint? What unit of measurement is that supposed to be? I don't see anything about it in the manual.

    Our first aerial art show

Hey Speedy, We keep a site up at www.elevatedelement.com for things like that. Hey Chris, We haven't messed about with tilt shift exactly, but I have been playing with some forced perspective. These digital cameras like to push everything into focus, and we recently started shooting...

    Our first aerial art show

Thanks, Chris. That has been my evil plan for the last few months. Now that she is involved, we get to spend more time together doing something fun and I don't have to hear about "the other woman" all the time. ;-) That photo is quickly proving to be one of the more popular ones. They were just...

I must have missed a step somewhere. I'll have to give it another go tonight. The problem seemed to pop up after I was already in CNG, but then stepped out of it and tried to go back into it. I'll get it sorted and let you know what I find. It's great to be able to practice on the simulator...

    East Coast Fly-In?

Awesome, Kevin. Glad you could join us. We have been trying to get together for to long now. Glad to see it taking form finally. I might have to get my OP craft back together again so you can help me tune it while I'm up there! -Terry

    Our first aerial art show

This thursday the wife and I will be featuring a bunch of prints from the copter in our first art show. So far it has been gaining a little bit of excitement from people. The fact that it's "drone art" is catching some traction. My wife has been an artist for years, but hasn't been in a show...

    Awesome photo gig

Sorry guys, I somehow lost this thread. It's an F550 modified to a 650 size frame (custom carbon fiber extensions) with a WKM and a frankenstein gimbal. It's put together with parts from several different ones I've had over the last 2 years. The rig was just converted into a 2 person set up...

Ok, so I took it out yesterday after work and had some success, but still not 100% there. I was able to get all the up to the point where I select a new way point to fly to, but for some reason it wouldn't let me drop a pin on the map. I took it home and ran the simulator at the house during...

    East Coast Fly-In?

I can make it on the 25th. Count me in. I guess some where up your way would be best since there are more of us in that direction. Bart, what ever happened to your connection at the Hindenburg Hangar?

Thanks, Mike. Just curious though, what's the story with the spacebar in step 11? Do you have to hold down the spacebar in order to select a new waypoint on the map, like a type of safeguard or something? -Terry
