I'll take that as a compliment!

At first I was sure it would take lots of work to build an airframe and I didn't think I could do it myself, but it's really easy if you go about it right. The main thing is to try and keep as much of the weight off as possible, which it looks like you have done. It also looks like you have used captive nuts there as well, a nice touch which makes fitting a whole lot easier.

Well, I hope your build goes as easily as mine. Keep us up to date on the progress. Mine will have a slight facelift in the next few weeks, so I will be busy again :)

Gunter.

Hi Drhswe,

are you prototyping at the moment or is the centerplate the final material you will be using. If yes what material is it ? Nomal Acrylic ?

thanks

A bit of both, it is a prototype that can be used.
The center plates are made of 4mm Makrolon, "the high-tech polycarbonate". It's realy superstrong.

Very cool i like this Makrolon. I cant really find any infos about it. Do you know if there is any Polyvinyl chloride in Makrolon. I would be interested to give the material a test drive on the laser cuter 5 mins from my house. Him not being able to cut carbon makes the machine only usable for acrylic prototyping: If makrolon is possible i would be thinking about building my own frame.

Thanks

Hi

It's a polycarbonate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate
Or you can requst a data sheet here: http://www.bayermaterialsciencenaft...8E6FA359126&o_num=4&pf=0&startrow=1&maxrow=10

I'm not sure which one I'm using.

How is the build coming along i would be very interested to hear you experience of the makrolon used with a productive copter. Just ordered a sheet and want to build a small bird only out if Makrolon.

Similar to something like this http://www.hoverthings.com/frame-sets/vc450dc.html

Hi, sorry for being away for awhile.
Too much work and to many projects at the same time...

One of them: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?2069-Build-(picture)-log-CineStar-6

I have also built a QUAD in Makrolon, I will put up a thread later.

@ Droider - Yes a CNC cutter. I'm getting the Makrolon from a local store. Carbon fibre - ebay.
@ Gunter - Motor distance ~100 cm

BTW, did you drill the holes on boom clamps manually? If the CNC machine did it, what kind of machine did you use?
