Hi All,

I'm setting up a quad with TURNIGY Plush 30amp ESC's. Should I be running a UBEC as well?

Thanks,

The Turnigy Plush got a linear BEC built in....this will give you 5 Volts / 2 Amps max, and this 5V will be avalible at your receiver at any port (as long as the Turnigy is conected to your reveiver). If you need a different voltage for Video Transmitter, LED's etc. you need a BEC /UEBC or a Step-Up / Step regulator.

I would rather go with the Stepup / Stepdown regulators, since you are more flexible with the Voltage.....

In general it's not a good idea to use the Receiver as a power source for any equipment. The idea behind built-in ESC's in Speed Controllers was to supply power to Servos which are connected to the Transmitter (Single Rotor Helis, Airplanes, Cars....). Video Transmitting equipment can draw a lot more Amp's and most transmitters are limited with the Amp's they can handle.

Thanks Chris. That's really all I needed to know. Not running video or any other power consuming gear at this stage.
