Transmitter scalding hot

All these cheap & cheerful VTX's run hot, just make sure the antenna is tuned properly & that the VTX is in good airflow if you can.

hi Ross

i am not a radio ham etc but are there any kind of swr meters available for checking and tuning antennas in these ranges

i am showing me age now but remember back in the old am and ssb cb days when antennas were correctly tuned the difference was incredible

just curious as to how its done with fpv gear as there seems to be alot of home made antennas about for different systems

thanks keith

1000mW is overkill. I would invest in a 300 - 500mW vtx. With the right antennas, you'll have more than enough range, especially for a multirotor. Your machine will be lighter and you can use a smaller battery. No one needs 1000mW. Last year a new FPV long range record was achieved using a Lawmate 500mW. How far? 87 km.
You can always attach a heat sink to it.

hi

thanks Pete that was some intresting reading and very useful did a quick search the other day for swr meters in these ranges and seem to be pretty expensive

also Juz can i ask what tx freq you use for your multirotor fpv flying

was thinking of looking for an old 72mhz tx for fpv multirotors or should i just stick with me 2.4ghz

just not sure best way to go as far as video tx freq etc which could determin what freq to fly by etc

thanks keith
