The bestest video gear...

We filmed with a variety of iftron, immersion and others this weekend and got good and bad results, choppy/lost down link view in the monitor, occasional washout etc etc. what is the ideal combination of gear in the mid to upper price range that will provide a good solid link to observe the camera view to enable a greater chance of great video or stills. We are using Gopro 2 & 3, NEX 5 & 7. So good quality sources but we need reliable down links. Thanks guys. Dubliner.

It's normally not the vtx/vrx and more the antennas, placement, vibrations, channel, proper power. Adding more power is not always the answer for distance though. It's better to rid of RFI/EMI. There is sooo much to learn about antennas alone it's a whole science in itself. You are better just copying what others have done with success. The most popular setup seems to be the 5.8 600mw immersion. The duo will have a lot more power than the uno even using 1 antenna. Make sure if you are using clovers that you have a 4 and 3 leaf pattern as a set. Pay attention to where the antennas will be when you are returning home as to flying out. Carbon is conductive! All connections need to be tight! Certain FPV cameras can emit a lot of rfi. Let's see what mr. owl has to say......Kloner?

Not every antenna is equal... have bought (and buying) antennas just about every week looking for the perfect set/combination. We use the immersion 5.8ghz 600 - Some antennas working well and others which are brand new just flat not working. As Iris said "Make sure if you are using clovers that you have a 4 and 3 leaf pattern as a set" My preference has been IBCrazy stuff.

We had iftron vitennas on the RX and an iftron whip on the tx. It was an immersion diversity RX though. Lots of good points from everyone, thanks. You're right about going with what works so if anyone has the magic formula please share. What we want is a solid link with probably no more that 500 ft distance ever used.

i can fly miles on similar gear. but, when we get in and shoot some spots around town, my video goes to hell on 5.8 from interference. We were at the stadium last weekend and certain spots around there had wireless cameras and several patch antennas all over the place and faa has some airplane radar on a hill and theres condos all around where we were and the local cable company uses 5.8 for wireless cable boxes. When we would shut off the crafts tx, the screen would still show ghostly looking images.

linear or whip antennas on 5.8 blows. you want RHCP type like ibcrazy or them fatshark cp sets
