XAircraft SuperX crash... what happened?!

Ground effects makes things smooth. Being that close to the ground, the props create a 'pillow' so-to-speak by the vortices from the props, circulating on the ground. An aircraft can actually lift from the ground under ground effects even when it doesn't have enough speed for flight. It's often done on rough ground to escape debris as it builds speed to climb. Multi rotors benefit from the same principle.

It's debatable whether ground effects makes things better. Some find it difficult to control under ground effects; especially with shorter legs and a hex or quad. I found it easier under ground effect with longer legs and a coaxial setup. I guess in general, ground effect makes things smoother.
