XAircraft So far so good with X-650 V8

Hi everyone, I'm pretty sure this is one of my first couple posts here so I hope it's a helpful one!

While doing plenty of reading Across the internet I've noticed many people are complaining of issues with the XA electronics. I wanted to share my experience with it considering I either got really lucky or I did something different in the setup...but so far mine has been flawless. Now, to be completely honest in the beginning when I first put it together following the instructions exactly, I did find a little instability issue and a problem with holding attitude. After speaking with Jeffrey (extremely helpful guy, and I will be purchasing from him again) he pointed out to make sure all wiring is as far away from the compass as possible and not to let any wires pass over the top of it.

I went back to the drawing board and noticed that there was some extra hardware that the kit came with including some longer standoffs for mounting the flight controller and an extra mounting plate. I use these to get the compass up higher and out of the way. The next thing I did was spend a decent amount of time leveling the frame with a bubble level for the calibration with the software. There's also a compass calibration in the software that I feel is pretty critical to get this to perform correctly. I used a lazy Susan to calibrate it by placing the chopper on it so I could spin it concentric in both flat and on its side. Leveling the booms/motors was also important in the set up process.

The chopper flies rock solid, holds heading perfect, and the return to home function works great. When I'm running the GoPro and Gimble I fly the chopper heavy at about 2350 grams with two 4000mah Hyperion 3cells. I get almost 14 minutes max with this setup. One other thing I found was that by sliding the batteries and camera gimble closer together towards the center point of the aircraft alleviated any extra rocking when going from forward or reverse movement to a hover...this also resulted in nicer video footage.

Anyway, just wanted to drop my setup on you with some photos.

Thanks

Glad to see that someone else has taken the time to fine tune the Xaircraft X650. My experience is pretty much the same, I have re-worked my units so many times I can do it in my sleep. You must make sure that your unit is level, if your working on the X650 4 or 8 YOU MUST level the booms. The second most important piece of information is move your compass. According to the manuals it should go on top of your AHRS, this is wrong for so many reasons, Make sure you re-install it away from every thing else. The only wire that should even come close to it should be the compass wire. I put mine on the top plate between M1 & M2 once I did that my unit took on a whole new life. If you are flying a x450 put it on the outer device plate, again with nothing even close to it. It works every time. Once you move the compass fine tune the software only. Another item, make sure your GPS has the red label facing the rear. My X650 is almost exactly like Fit101's so I won't upload those pictures. Take the time and read the forum, play around a little with the settings and you'll be amazed on how well these birds fly. I'm running 5000 mah 3s batteries and am getting between 14 & 17 mintues of flight time and on my 4000's I getting just a comfortable 13 - 14 mintues. And before you start yes, I'm missing 1 landing gear, the bushing came loose after a hard hit, but the center skids take the majority of the hit, so I'm leaving those on and I'll replace the missing leg tonight.

Hi Ricoklausi, Those are fiberglass props I got from Jeffrey at XAircraft USA. xaircraftusa.com
They fit perfectly, but instead of a slot its a straight hole and a washer. Works good!
