Hi all,
Just a quick request: Since starting with quads last year ( '14) I'm looking for RC clubs in my area (lower NH, lower ME, upper MA.

Any info with possible contact info is appreciated.

And, perhaps if no clubs as above, those who are into quads and into the above area(s), perhaps starting a club?

THX,

RikMac

If you head over to the AMA site, you can do a search by your area. I'm sure you'll find a few. Not all will be as welcoming to "drones," but I had great luck up north of you in Vermont.

Good luck and fly safe!

RikMac,

Your other option is start your own group. I offer groups a free meeting place here at multirotorforums.com, we'll build you a sub-forum that you can name and it will have all of the features at the site for you and your group to use.

Let me know, happy to do it.

Hi Bartman,

I'm a 'member' in about 4 different forums (incl. AMA), and enjoy the ability to add, solve, enjoy, educate myself, with all layers of RC multi-groups. I'm starting my 'second childhood' at 81 yr old. Last year, I was planning to do a 'George H.W. Bush skydive on my 80th, howver when I found out how expensive it was with about 10-15 min. flight/dive, I decided to put my money on something I could enjoy during my 'later' years.

A frustrating 1- ½ years between learning, testing, trouble-shooting, even before doing what was my goal (FPV) - then blindsided by physical problems, delaying the fun part of my life. Hopefully, this coming Spring I will be back up in the air doing FPV!

Well Ric, I didn't want to have to tell you but those other forums don't love you the way we do, i overheard them talking amongst themselves last week. :)

I just posted our 2016 Group Build and it's going to be a basic FPV quadcopter, something that won't be too expensive or too hard to build but will have the flexibility to carry an FPV camera along with a GoPro and a big enough battery to let you settle into your beach chair and fly for a little while without running out the packs right away.

Here's the thread

Hi Bart,

There are several RC clubs nearby, however none are with multi-rotor sets and don't seem to want to talk 'our language', and their meetings are few and far between. So… even tho I have checked for clubs a few months ago on AMA, I haven't found any. I'm more than willing to start a club here and have printed out flyers with my quad interests and supplied the only hobby shop within 30 miles with a handful.

No takers yet! I'm not giving up!

Keep at it! This hobby is growing by leaps and bounds. I'm sure you will find some like-minded folks before too long.

Do you have a good, safe field to fly in?

Hi Bart,

I live in a large retirement community with a mowed, grass entrance field of about 5-6 acres, which is where I presently fly.
There are, as above, several RC clubs within about 10-20 miles. Last fall and earlier this year, I emailed the contact info but recd. no replies, so that's my initial problem. Last week, I sent another series of query emails and hoping to receive replies.
