LED on NAZA itself?

I'm a keen advocate of RTFM but I noticed there is an led lit on the NAZA itself that obviously glows red because it's inside the red plastic case of the NAZA and I can't see a reference to this in the NAZA manual. I have just bought my second NAZA and set it up on a TBS Disco, set up perfectly and flies great but it's the first time I noticed a red led lit inside the NAZA. Is this normal? Oh, I have just upgraded my NAZA firmware to the latest revision which is 2.02 on both NAZA's and both have an led lit within them.

Yup, light inside the Naza is normal.

Have you seen the threads regarding "covering" the left side of the Naza so direct sunlight doesn't cause a big drop in altitude while flying in GPS/Atti modes?

Thanks for that DesJ, can't think why I didn't see the LED before but it's good to know it's normal. As you saw, I upgraded the firmware too and I've read about a few problems with V2.02 so I'm being especially vigilant. Have you seen the S800 flip of death youtube vids, that's scary?

As for the sunlight problem, you're ok in Ari-sunny-zona so you need the tape mod but here in the UK sun isn't a problem he he

even a street light will trigger it. if the case is fully exposed and atti doesn't hold a constant elevation i'd start with the tape

Thanks Kloner, couldn't have said it any better.

Dave, basically what it comes down to "are you willing to take that chance" don't forgot we talked about it!

the nazas with the red light are the ones that do it.

My NAZA has the red LED inside the case and is 100% unaffected by any sort of light.

I fly 100% in ATTI mode and I can hover in place while slowly rotating thru a full 360 with zero effect on altitude holding,

and this is in brilliant SoCal sunshine.

I do NOT have the GPS module, so maybe that is the difference?

i'd say it's more likely you either have it nesteld in total darkness or it's always illuminated and the alt hold just sucks or you just haven't flown it at the right time, right direction. I flew mine for 3 months, then one evening i put something on a model and was chomping at the bit while the sun rose, they i yawed into the sun and bam, got it. it's a change in illumination more so than it being sun lit or not. always lit will give you misserable altitude hold results

check this thread, almost every unit does it, just a matter of when you fly at the wrong time and either chalk it up to an oops or if you know what caused it.

Thanks Kloner, I'll check out this other thread.
In MY particular case, I have the bone stock Witespy DJI F450 Flamewheel with the NAZA located between the upper and lower plates in the dead center.
There is nothing to prevent sunlight from hitting all sides of the unit.
I have over 300 hundred flights on the quad flying it at all different times of day from before sunrise to just after sunset.
All with no issues pertaining to light sensitivity.
Since my quad is performing flawlessly (except for a VERY slow rotation to the left???), I have NOT updated any software/firmware at all.
I figure, if it ain't broke, why mess with it.
Thanks
