It doesn't fit!

I have just received my new batteries and 10awg wire for making the power harness. The battery comes with bullet connectors, but I want to use XT60 plugs. The problem is that the wire doesn't quite fit into the end of the plug! I can't even see how it's easily possible to solder 10awg to a deans connector...any suggestions? Is it possible to trim off some of the strands to make the diameter smaller, or do I risk doing damage?

Thanks, Gunter.

You will have to use 5.5 mm bullet connectors on the Lipo, I hade the same problem. Just make a converter using 12 AWG cable. (Ofcourse you gonna need extra pair of bullet connectors.) If you can hold until the meeting, I can bring a converter to you :)

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet (pardon the pun) and buy some bigger bullet connectors...as I have already got the batteries and cable for the power distribution...

You can add a cable extension to the Lipo with 12AWG cable. You will just need 4 inches silicon cable. Then, you can solder 12AWG to XT60.

Thanks OVDT, I'd rather not make the cable smaller if I can help it. I have 10 gauge to make the distribution ring with, so I want to try and stay with that size.

Just ordered a few pairs of these Dave, the Traxxas website says it does 12 awg, but I'll give them a try anyway!

The leads on my batts are 10gauge.. its a snug fit but it fits nice. Just take care when you solder the wire on to the tabs not to go over the line or let any solder run over the edge. There is a video on there site I think that shows the process. I did mess up the first two I tried so went and watched the video and RTFM.. After that I cam do um no mither. JUST REMEMBER you need a nice hot and powerfly irion on this size stuff.. I use a 80w as hot as I can get it and tin the tab and really load the wire up so I dont have to try and add more solder. .....ahh shut up dave... I am sure you will manage with out my blubberings!

Thanks Dave, I'll give it a try as soon as the connectors arrive :)
