ok guys i know this place knows ALOT more than i do about motors and such.. so ill explain what happend and see what you guys think..

Just finished building my custom quad.. all 4 ESC and Motors hooked threw the Naza.. throttle up only 1 motor turned.. was a bit fishy to me.. so i unplugged all from the naza and was going to run them manual Via the Calibration splitter... 3 motors turned the 4th twiched back and fourth rapidly before i could shut it off popped and threw up a puff of smoke that smells like a blown subwoofer.. or burn magnets whatever you wanna call it.. got to looking the ESC on said motor had two of the wires melted together where i heat shrinked it.. i know i take all responsibility for this screw up... melting the wires and such.. im guessing the ESC is fried because of this.. now the motor im pretty sure it is two by the smoke but like i said you guys know more than me..

now my questions are is there hope for the motor? and two would the naza stop the other two from working because the one was malfunctioning? i know i need another ESC prob should replace the motor as well?

heres a link to the motor and ESC

sounds like that one motor either had a bad solder, or the connector didn't make connection or the motor had a screw up into the winding? good advice, try that motor on it's own on a seperate esc. If it doesn't spin right up, stop and that's your answer. if it spins up, let it fun for a second, rev it to make sure it's alright like that

i've never seen wires melt from a bad connection....... how long where you running it with it going back and forth?

No the two wires were on the ESC. Two out of the three in the signal plug from the controller to the ESC. It was right outside the heat shrink I had put on the wires. It was prob 2-3 sec of running. I spun all motors by hand first so don't think it was a long screw.

if you used a screw other than what comes in the motors kit it can go through and hit a wire in the motor. You can visualy see it with a flashlight looking int he motor. if a motor winding wire sits over a hole, see if teh glue has been stretched.... they still spin normal by hand

so the servo lead wire fried? That's not good

The ESCs almost always pop in that case. Replace the motor and the damaged ESCs, don't tempt the fates.
