Is anyone using the Hitec Aurora9 radio?

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Hi everyone,

I've been looking into the Hitec Aurora 9 radio and was wondering if anyone has anything to say about them. The Optima 9 channel receiver has a power input (Supplementary Power Connection) that is good for up to 8 lipo cells and this voltage will show on the radio display. This is a nice feature for heli's where the FC can't accept more than 3 or 4 cells but where the flight packs are more than that.

THe RC community has been generally accepting of the Hitec radios but I thought I'd ask here before ordering one to try out.

Regards,
Bart

I quite like them Bart, but I had not had mine very long and one of the 3 position switches went tits up, then one of the 2 pos'n switches did the same, and last week the Idle up switch got all intermittent on me. must contact Hitec and see if I can order some switches. dont want to switch (pardon the pun) as I have 5 craft with hitec Rx's on. and I'm familiar with them., easy to use IMO and apart from the switches not had any problems, just about to buy another actually, maybe they wont last 5yrs but at the low price of them who cares.

which radio are you using? the Aurora 9?

i actually just ordered one and may keep a few on hand for the shop. haven't decided yet. is the problem with the switches a common thing with them?

thanks,

Yeah, Aurora 9. dont know if its common, cant say I've noticed much talk online of it, maybe I'm just too rough with them. (More used to aircraft grade switches on ROV Control stations) so probably.

I am using an Aurora9 (actually two of them) they work as they should. You can use a 2S -Lipo, and I would recommend the HTC Voice, which is a nice feature with multicopter, since you can get accoustic information (e.g. about the voltage of your battery). The SPC on the Optima Receivers is nice, since you do not need an extra sensor to get the voltage. Since short time I am using the current sensors (50A and 200A) which are quite easy to install if you are using bullet connectors (you just put them on a battery lead).

best regards

Love my hitec. The SPC port is fantastic and my idiot light for batteries.

Only beef is that the switches seem to break more easily than other controls. 4 switches snapped off on my mine - granted I should probably get a nice case for it.

Also, never had an issue with inteference - seems to be a very solid link. There isn't any EMI shielding which would cause my LCD screen to dim when running near my old 900mhz fpv downlink.

Have you managed to source replacement switches JC?

yes.. and I don't really have an excuse why I haven't fixed it. I work 10 mins from Hitec - and they said that they could repair it for me. Hitec sells the switches too I believe.

Ah good, I'll drop them an email, see if I can get hold of a handful.
Thanks.
