Hoverfly HFP on Ice esc's

Had some time today with a multi rotor running the black hfp board and castle esc's. when i'd fire up the motors, there was a noticeable lag in 2 or 3 of em, one goes quite a ways into the throttle studdering till it spins. the esc is in multi rotor mode and fixed end points. When i tried to calibrate the throttle range, nothing would happen both straight to the receiver and through the hfp boards throttle range cali procedure.

How do it calibrate these things? i know in fixed endpoint mode per the castle esc whitepapers is the radio is set to the esc's range. how do you set that up in an hfp?

Yeah, I can blow that up.
If its set to fixed end points there is no calibration to do. Our RCT motors are set to fixed end points as well and they work great. If you are seeing shuddering in startup , you may want to try another timing setting. That sounds more like the issue.

it has the huge kopterworx motors on a CS8,,,, do those motors have a usual timing setting? look like really tall tigers, 2830 ish

When it fires up it's so loud, like high pitched noise, when the battery alarms go off i can't hear it over the esc's motors.

OK, the esc's were programmed to exactly that as i remember. theres 3 that studder, one that is weird,,,, like scary weird to a guy like myself. it sits there 1/8th throttle going back and forth. like a cold solder or bad connector. It has powerpoles from the esc motor output to the motor wires. I'm thinking replace the powerpoles connector and resolder anything on that motor wire that is soldered? That logical?

It has to carry a red next week and it's got me uneasy as a not owner/builder but as a pilot that wants it to be succesful

I had this happen and it was a bad esc. I had to do a few motor swaps to believe it. When did you get a cinestar?

I'm just piloting one, but when we met to see if we were gonna do this, that one motor scared me a bit. after we landed that motor was hotter than the rest, did yours?

I've never had good results asking questions on the zendesk. You're better getting answers here. If you're motors are hot with 2826 and 14" APC SF something is wrong. You're not lifting enough weight that you should be pushing the limits with that set up. Try swapping the motor with another esc and see what happens. Only way to know for sure. I have had a bad motor once where the wiring was crossed. It jumped back and forth but never really started at all. I put another motor on the same esc and it worked fine. I then put another esc on the bad motor and it did the same thing so it was a bad motor. process of elimination.

I just spent some time with this thing. If i have the ice esc's plugged into the hfp board and try looking at the hfp setup software, it gives a "this version of the setup client is incompatible with the firmware error. When the esc's are unplugged, it works perfect. the red wires are all removed. it's like the 2 way comunication of the esc's gets to talking through the hfp board? Weird, buy an old used junk board, some crappy $20 esc's and i'm more comftorable with that than a brand new blacky, ice 75.........
