I am looking to get a better picture. I now own a hero hd. Is the hero2 hd really a good upgrade when you already own a hero hd?

there pretty noticeably different. the biggest change is all the modes.... in 1080p you can choose 140 deg fov, 120 deg fov or 90 deg fov and the picture has better color. the fov is like zoom and 90 degree has almost no fisheye. i use it for my head mount for filming myself flying LOS

that's 1080p narrow mode

heres my hero in it's only choice for 1080, super distant. when that heli spooled up and left it was 10' in front of me.

It sucks when a new cam comes out thats better than the version you have. If you have a gopro hero hd then wait for the next version. I have a feeling there are going to be major advancements.

At the end of the day its up to you on what you do with your money but I have a personal rule which is:
If you want to buy the latest version of the same product you already have you can only buy it if its two or more versions above what you already have.

It seems like they update the camera once a year so maybe if you can wait until december then do that.
October 2011 - HD Hero 2 released
August 2010 - HD Hero released
