GoPro 3 Black 4k & 2.7K output

Is there any advantage to using the 4K & 2.7K formats on the GP3 and then converting it to 1080 or 960 to view? Is it true what some say about only being able to see the difference between 2k and 4k when you have a monitor over 100"? Will the 2.7 ouput be viewable on my 30" ips monitor with 2560 x1440 resolution?

4k is a very low frame rate, so no real use at all. 2.7k has some compromises, and you will eat ALL your memory card very quickly, but there is the possibility of cropping in post and still getting an HD picture out of the image.

4k is not of much use for AP due to the low frame rate - 2.7k however allows for post-stabilization and cropping without loss of resolution, if the final output is 1080HD.

Is it 2.7K still only available in wide FOV with the new firmware? Not much good for AP or AV. Surely lose so much quality in post, after lens distortion and crop. may as well use 1080 narrow
