Calibrating ESC's to TX

The ESC's need to be calibrated to mesh with my DX8 throttle. Moving the stick up and down 'til the ESC beeps and signals OK. One ESC at a time? Or all together at once. Should I power up all the motors and expect all four ESC's to calibrate simultaneously? That seems logical but I want to be sure. Thx.

You have to calibrate and program them individually using ch 3 (throttle) of your Rx Rob. You don't strictly have to program them, but it is a good practise to have them set to Nimh rather than Lipo at least to ensure they don't cut out at low voltage.

Thank you, Bowley. Your reply gave me a heads up alert that I needed.

I didn't want to program the ESC's but the specs said they would cut power if throttle signal were lost for more than a second. That disturbed me. I wouldn't want the power to be cut for any reason at all. Seems that if failsafe RTH happened because of TX failure then the bird would crash anyways because the ESC's cut power. An important thing to know.

So now I'll have to learn to program the ESC's just to set them to Nimh. I learned that I need to get a programming card or something call smonky or whatever it's called. I wouldn't know what to do with it or how to use it. Another whole branch and twig of the tree for me to learn. I'm glad I asked.

Thanks, Rob
