Do we have the technology to fly the BMPCC on a Phantom 2? That would be awesome.

I've seen several TBS discoveries fly nex which would be a more sized platform for the job, especialy with our arm kits and 14-15" props. They start with a OG disco and buy a gimbal sized for the camera, then mod it on. makes a custom build so moddeling skills required. gotta know how to drill holes, solder, program, etc.

the camera basically sucks so not a lot of time has been spent making rigs to fly it

kloner, I'm not sure I'd agree that the BMPCC "sucks", although I'd agree it's not a great choice for aerials. The main selling point of it is that it's a $1000 (oops...make that $500!) camera that can shoot raw (well, sort of...ProRes is basically raw) and grades up nice next to bigger cameras in favorable light. But it's a 2X or more crop factor, has lousy battery life, weird ergonomics and is a pain to balance on a gimbal. But did I mention that it's now $500? I would bet that's because a 2nd generation version is on its way. 4K with better ergonomics and battery life would be a killer.

my gimbal op had 2 of them, both had pixel problems on the sensor, he finaly sold it off.... i'm not sure that even at $500 there a good deal. the only good part is any lens you would get for that will attach to a decent camera.... love my gh4

I'm also not sure I'd say it "sucks." It has it's strengths and weaknesses and does indeed shoot raw in addition to ProRes 422 HQ. I'm tempted to get one but I'm also fearful the sale is a harbinger of obsolescence. Maybe I'll just use that money for a GH4.

Although the GH4 doesn't shoot raw it does shoot 4K, which is going to be in demand, and it can also be made to be 10 bit 1080 4:4:4, if I'm not mistaken.
