apm brownout help

Hi all
I have install retractable landing gear and a gimbal with tilt wired up on my apm power f550 but it seems everytime i operate either of them my 550 falls out of the sky. Ive looked at the mission planner logs and it looks like its browning out but im running them directly to the receiver module and not through the apm, could this be why its happening?
Also im running a power module but the connection for the gimbal is before the power module.
Any advice is much appreciated.

Specifics will definitely help here. Which landing gear are you using? Which APM? And which power module?

When you say the gimbal is before the power module, what exactly do you mean? I know the APM can be temperamental with power - so let's make sure you have everything wired correctly and bench tested before you head up in the air again.

You can not power a servo, off of the APM output, unless you have a BEC connected to the output side, supplying power.

Yes the power is coming from the apm to the receiver for the retracts. i didnt even think of the bec.
So wouls i be best to run a bec straight from the battery and leave the signal wire in the receiver
Or run a bec from the apm to retracts?
Thanks

Could i run it off the power module instead of a bec?

On a side note
Im building a zmr 250 running 3s does this need a power module or becs or can it just run straight of battery? Want to keep weight down
