Althought that ebay deal is not a big risk for 17 GBP, but you can try here an alternative:

http://shop.rc-electronic.com/e-ven...a=article&ProdNr=OPT1050&t=2006&c=2028&p=2028

especially this product (which I use and love:
http://shop.rc-electronic.com/e-ven...a=article&ProdNr=OPT1050&t=2006&c=2028&p=2028

The stuff is a bit more expensive, but it's a proven top product, comes from Germany from a very well known shop, and they would answer you all your questions. Just make sure you read (and understand) the specs, and maybe download the manual first....it will tell you all you need to know.

Im not so worried about £17, its principle. I sent the seller another message and he/she replied with a one liner and that was a lie so I simply will not be buying anything from them.

The german site looks perfect though, thanks!

I think these are just led strips. they are widely available on the internet if you know what your looking for.

The trouble is not the LED's, you can get them at any round-the-corner shop.....it's the LED controller which is not always easy to find....at least with a decent current draw.

Yes indeed but I ordered the firefly today so hopefully wont be tool long before i am illuminated :)

The manual is in german which isnt helpful, do you have an english copy?

Also a few other questions, do you run yours from the RX? I need to run 2 leds off each of 3 outputs so I have to get my head back into resistance and forward current and its been a while since I did anything with that stuff, any advice?

In general I don't like to supply power to external stuff via the receiver.....it can only handle lower currents and in some cases it could fry your receiver while in air.
Most of the time I use soething like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Converter-3-5...2399&sr=8-5&keywords=DC++Dc+Step+up+Step+down

Cheap, small, light and fully adjustable.....you must just source it somewhere close to you via Amazon, ebay or online elecrtonic shops....I normally just connect the Step-Up/Step-Down converter to my Lipo's, but some people just connect the controller (Firefly) to the LiPo balancer cable which would give you (when done correctly) 7,4 V....the Firefly can handle up to 8,4 V.

Some additional reading for your head-scratching-current-resistor stuff:

http://www.multirotorforums.com/sho...ay-orientation/page2&highlight=led+calculator

The Firefly manual I only have in German (my mother language)...their website says it's avaliable in English soon....maybe they could mail you something.....otherwise I will try and help you set it up.

hi there

to translate the manual from german to english

if you have a scanner scan the manual page at a time then save as files on your computer and use google translater to copy paste and translate then print them in english

or if manual is already a file on your computer just copy and paste to translater

google translater is free not perfect but good enough for this sort of application

worth a try
