Actually am I seeing what I think I am seeing, there is a version that can be either a 800mm quad or a 900mm hex on the single machine?

It does appear so.
I don't know how that would work with UK CAA Ops manuals?? Anyone?

Wouldn't think it would be a problem, you could just have 4-6 motors 800-900mm depending on setup.
The same way you would not list what camera/gimbal you would be using, you just make it generic so you can move the goalposts to suit different conditions.

Do you think you would have to do 2x flight tests on it one as a quad one as a hex?

Good question.
In my flight manual I have 15" to 17" props depending on requirements, and there was no need to test on different props, but I don't know TBH as this is changing the amount of motors.

Like everyone else, I just wish they'd pull their finger out and give us some more specs, pricing and expected availability!

Ditto.
I'm wanting to apply for BNUC-S and would like to be able to make an informed decision on S900/Align Hex to carry my GH4 for the flight test. This is holding me back slightly. :upset:

Don't rush it, go do your ground course, your ops manual will take you a couple of months at least anyhow probably to complete, then once the better weather starts to come back in maybe things will have changed .. again!
I can guarantee you once you have hit the buy button, there will be something better just around the corner.

ShackFlyer - where did you find this? IS there any more information, such as AUW and flight times, and more specifically availability?

No more details. Just this image on Align's FB page by Jeff Fassbinder. His name & Post are links on my post.
The FB page didn't embed properly on here (or I couldn't get it to)

Brilliant thanks for sharing, I have been watching Align's FB page daily.. pretty good pricing if you ask me.
Will be very interesting to see how well they filter through to the resellers, not to mention how it flies with a new FC in the market...competition is good.
