8ga wire on lipo.

I have a Turnigy 5000 mah battery with 8ga wire. Why would it need to be this big when the wire it plugs into is 14ga. Do I need bigger wire on my F550?

I believe that wire probably needs to be that thick in case the battery was ever called on to discharge at its full rate - which would be far higher than you will ever need with an MR. You don't need that size wire for your f550.
