Aye Up

I have been away for a while so sorry if this seems a out of date question seeing there seems to be an imminent release of 5.10 BUT how is the 5.8 firmware doing? ~ especially interested in Y6 flyers

Well, I'm certainly enjoying it on my Hexa! All the problems just went away.
I'm flying a x/a Hexa, motors are all within 2 degrees F. of each other at 115 F. as max. That tells me everything is working together nicely.
Really looking forward to the next upgrade.

Just taken the plunge.. reset all parameters and started again dialling it in. so far its cost me one Graupner prop.

Should I be recalibrating my ESC's.. At start up only one or two motors spin up until you give it gas then she lifts off. Very similar flight characteristics as before but when I really whack the sticks she goes in to a death roll. Its a F450 and I aint seen this before.

Gains are roll 165 pitch 165 Yaw 145 vertical 110
attitude in both 100

Not sure what ESC's and motors you have, but did you notice the motor idle speed section
under the motor mixer page. ?

I know a few people had start up problems until they upped it slightly.

Not sure if this would cause the flip though

If the motors don't start up equally, then try selecting the next step higher idle speed.

If the esc's have already been programmed, then it should not be necessary to re-do them. However, depending on what motors you use, it might be advisable to set motor timing to high if you have high pole count motors.

Can't comment on the gains, as every acft is different, but on mine, virtical and attitude are around the 150 mark.

Turn your gains right down .. Later firmwares require less gains
125 125 130 135
Atti 90 90 to start with ..

Since calibrating the esc's they all start up together but in the exercise found that M1 has a bit of a stutter now and again and has that bit of a dip before recovering.

I cant watch the flamin tennis so Ill go turn the gains down..

Cheers Geoff
