getting there:

little slow still on the roll axis and little drift from time to time. But that can be fixed ! Off to mounting it on the copter after testing tomorrow with a 7D, but already had it on it should work with no probs.

thats beautiful rig and exactly how I would like to see a mount made, Not knowing much with the brushless side of weight mainly I have not played with them much, with the way you made that is it camera specific or does it matter. I guess I ask mainly because I know weight plays i role and if that is true how would you go about adjusting for CG differences.

cheers Boris

Guys changes of the gimbal to reach the final version. To keep it more adjustable and that it can be taken apart motors changed easily i changed some parts. Not every one would like to glue the parts together like it did ! Additionally pan can be adjusted forward back which is crucial when mounting different cams to bring pan back into CG.

If any of you have any additional ideas or wishes comment please ! If i fnished up this weekend i will start posting all the STLs and additional parts needed. I hope to get the whole setup without me cutting (from shapeways) somewhere around 600 Euros inkl. everything needed !

That would be:

Motors
Driver Board
Carbon Tubes
Hollow Shaft und Bearing
3D printed parts.

Jhardway i had a 7d on it with a medium lense and it worked ! Its adjustable on all axis and the cam can be balanced out on tilt roll and pan. The zenmuse set the standard on balancing out the cam which other gimbals in my eyes are lacking and i took care to consider all the adjustments necessary !

What a nice gimbal. Thanks for sharing this in future. It's really great to see when people share their genius design.
Do you use 2 alexmos boards or expansion board for 3rd axis, both boards mounted on the same mount?

Maybe you could add top handle for low angle handheld shoots?
And you could also add 3 landing gear for copter use (2 x instead handles and one landing gear on tube that will came out of pan-roll motors tube clamp)

Many thanks for all the hard work you have put into this design, looks great! Do you have size/dimensions for the cf tubes?

HI Alexoki,

they are 16mm carbon tubes thickness 1.5mm. So 16mm outer 13mm inner dimension ! I am going to change one or two more parts a little and put everything in one STL files could be that it becomes cheaper with shapeways !

Ill update everything tomorrow !

Amazing work BorisS, really cool to see it come together! Were you drawing in Solidworks or something else? Are you going to incorporate a quick release to your CS8 or something similar? Looking forward to some footage from the bird

Hi BorisS, I visited the Shapeways page and see that you have posted 'Complete DSLR 2'. Did you make any changes since the revision you last posted a video of?
I've just pre-ordered the new V3 alexmos board and the motors, thinking about printing your parts this week. What are you overall thoughts on how it came together? (I will be running a 5dmkIII or 7D on the gimbal for the meantime, and looking at acquiring either a BM Cinema Cam, or possibly the Pocket Cam toward the end of the year) Cheers! Cam

Hi BorisS, I would like to 3D print your Gimbal. Did you mention making the STL files available? What do you think should be modified to use it with a NEX5/7 type camera (that size range & weight)?
