    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

That's interesting! I might have to give the Naza a try. Better than the SuperX? Just the most recent firmware? Any custom mixing? (Not sure if that's even an option with Naza)

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

I'm flying the SuperX on my main copter. It's a Falcon Drones frame, Vulcan UAV arms, KDE 4014's and 55A ESCs. I typically fly with a Movi M5 and a GH4. I also have a larger Phobotic gimbal to lift Reds and Arris.

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

I temporarily switched to a WKM for a heavy lift x8 and hated it. Way less stable than the SuperX. It's amazing that nothing as stable or smooth has come out for x8 copters. It looks like the A3 has the same problems as the A2 for initial x8 users. Hopefully they'll release a firmware update to...

    SOLD Wookong M and GPS

I'm selling a Wookong M and GPS. Everything works great, I'm just sticking with SuperX. $325 OBO I'll include the OSD in the picture if you want it, but I'm 90% sure it doesn't work. I only played with it for 10 minutes or so. The WooKong-M flight controller is a comprehensive control system...

Phobotic Gimbal - Similar to Movi M10/M15

I originally built this over a year ago before the M15 was available. I needed something that would give me room to attach a Red Epic with batteries. I'd say 99% of my work is with a GH4 now, and I've purchased an M5 to get the Freefly follow focus. Included are three 8018 Gimbal motors...

    XAircraft SuperX Pro (Fully Unlocked)

This is the most reliable and smooth flight controller I've ever flown. I'm only getting rid of it because I need something with programmable flight routes (I have an A3 on order). This is the fully unlocked version (works with up to 8 motors) that sells for $599 new. I've been using it on a...

    Freefly Alta 8

I just wish they'd sell their synapse flight controller separately.

    Camera gimbal transmitter set up

I would say the second setup you mention is closer to an industry standard. At least with out of the box gimbals - This is the default configuration for both the Movi and the Ronin.

The next rig for Yonder Blue Films - "Less Is More"

This has been a super helpful thread to follow. I'm just now finishing up a Vulcan X8 and was wondering, how do you travel with your copter? I'm using the gryphon PDB with bullet connectors so I can remove all of the arms. I'm just always looking for a better solution.

Red Epic Gimbal (and a Catalyst Machineworks Cage mini-review)

I've seen a couple people on here asking about the Gearhead (Now Catalyst) motor cages, so I thought I'd throw in a little review on top of this build log. I needed to build a gimbal that could hold a Red Epic with an Anton Bauer battery on the back. It needed to be a little bigger than the...

Have you used the gearhead mounts to make your own gimbal?

I should have a write up next week. I have everything put together, I just haven't powered it up yet. Everything is nice and smooth, so I don't think I'll have any issues.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

I've always heard it was the other way around. Retracts introduce more vibrations into the system and mess with stabilization. My preference is RLG, even if it's slightly worse stabilization wise. It's just one less thing that can fail. I'm excited to see RLG modes! I've ordered a CPHV and...

Have you used the gearhead mounts to make your own gimbal?

I'm going to order the Phobotic CPHV once they're in stock again.

Have you used the gearhead mounts to make your own gimbal?

I have three of them waiting to be used for a gimbal designed around the Red Epic. They nicely made and strong. They give a cleaner appearance than the CF mounts I've seen and they seem like they'll protect the motors more. Neill is awesome to work with. Some of the best customer service I've...

a Safe Reliable FLight control system for a heavy lifter

SuperX and KDE ESC's don't play nicely with Taranis. You have to set your throttle endpoints differently. In the throttle channel the weight should be 86 and the offset should be - 7. I'm not sure what radio you're using, but this fixed all my SuperX/KDE problems.

New Pricing announced on Freefly Movi gimbals

I recently shot with the M10 for a week and wasn't super impressed. To be fair, we only used it for handheld shots and we were right up at the weight limit (Epic, Arri Master Prime, Follow Focus, and Paralinx). I didn't feel like a $15K piece of equipment. I'm really hoping this Phobotic...

Hoverfly Hoverfly and KDE motor/esc compatibility (or incompatibility!)

I was having similar issues with pixhawk and superx and the KDE esc's with my taranis. Try setting your throttle end points to 1100ms - 1900ms. In the throttle channel the weight should be 86 and the offset should be - 7. This fixed my issues on superx, but not the pixhawk.
