How to rescue my lost drone

TD- I am glad to read that your errant "drone" "returned" and it still appears to work.

    Hoffman Island Mission Accomplished

Do my actions on two different sites make me a troll?:confused: I have a long post record supporting responsible and safe ownership and operation on many different threads.

    Hoffman Island Mission Accomplished

It was sadly interesting to read how the participants over at RCG were more focused on the P3, quality of video, and mods with no mention of responsible operation. There are significant differences among memberships in the different RC sites that I frequent. This site is one of the most...

    Hoffman Island Mission Accomplished

Not yet anyways ;). I have battled over there at RCG till my fingers cramped on far too many occasions to want to remember about responsible owner operation of their RC aircraft. Enough posted here. I want to keep my BP managed.

    Hoffman Island Mission Accomplished

FWIW, this O/O is being "received" at RCG in a whole different perspective; not based on responsible operation. :(

A little help please - video footage of crash

It's amazing how quickly one's multi-rotor gains weight and components get crowded o_O

A little help please - video footage of crash

OhHey- Have you set (rotated) the GPS/compass puck to adjust for magnetic declination/deviation? You should be offset - 12° to -14° based on a rough read of a magnetic declination chart. There deviation/declination software programs on the internet that would give you your exact figure. JB

    Naza M Lite flipping issues ? ?

I have a NAZA M-lite with GPS/Compass flight controller and I have had no problems at this point. From what I have read the NAZA M-lite is very sensitive to chassis vibration. Is your FC solidly fixed in place? I agree the more balanced the quad and the closer the FC is to COG/COE the better...

How to rescue my lost drone

TD- sorry about your tree landing. I was going to recommend the ol' slingshot with heavy nut attached to a line method, but those branches create quite an impressive barrier around where that quad appears hung up. I have had to resort to all kinds of retrieval methods in the past. Since it...

Newb building u580 pro, need guidance

hb75- That's part of the fun, and eCalc lets one play around with component "mix" and provide relatively reasonable performance estimates. For a point of comparison, my build's AUW is ~1800 grams (and growing heavier faster than I am): I have a slightly modified Turnigy HAL "585". I run 30A...

Newb building u580 pro, need guidance

Welcome hellbilly75. Out of curiosity what are your mixed flight, and active flight flighttimes? JD- As I understand eCalc if one inputs AUW the individual component weights are irrelevant and the program will put its own "weights" in the respective boxes. I have read a lot of complaints...

    almost ready to give upboth

Bill- Try re-calibrating the ESC's. It took me a couple of attempts to calibrate my esc's with all the bleeping beeping with my esc's. I want to read about you getting airborne soon. Good luck- Jay

    almost ready to give upboth

Bill- Honestly I am not surprised, and I am really not sure exactly why. Motor esc #1 should connect with M1- this connection powers everything. You probably have 2,3, 4 esc's calibrated. Have you tried a direct esc servo connect with esc #1 to M1 with no jumpers and all motors connected?

Bill- BTW the KK2.0 board is actually powered through the M1 connection. I checked this before I posted. Good luck. Jay

Bill- It reads like you are getting closer to getting airborne. I have not played with the KK2 in a long time. I still believe that you need to calibrate your esc's. As I posted previously the "clothespin method" through the KK board worked best for me.

Bill- I hope that you find this link helpful: http://rumblecloud.com/rumblecloudrc/index.php?topic=559.msg4948#msg4948 It seems that the different 9X transmitters all need slight modifications to those end point settings based on feedback that I have recieved and posts that I have read. It...

    almost ready to give upboth

One needs a BEC esc to power the KK board through channel 1. The KK board is powered through channel 1. If the other channels are not powered it appears the ESC connected to channel 1 is not a BEC esc. I had a KK2.0 version 1.6 and I had BEC esc's connected to all channels without problems...

Group Build 2014, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!

A failing LiPo could cause the battery failsafe to activate as well. I have a similar set of components and my quad (avatar) weighs in at at least 1800 grams and I have no problems with performance. I have had similar problems to yours in the past with failing batteries. I would check...

    almost ready to give upboth

Bill- I suspect that your ESC's are still not calibrated. With all the bleeping beeping going on it took me several attempts to calibrate my old KK2.0 board before they actually calibrated. I used the clothespin calibration technique using clothespins on Buttons #1 and #4 prior to powering up...

    5 minutes, wobble begins, then....

Hangloose- Welcome. Out of curiosity did you calibrate the compass and give the flight controller time to initialize and get a GPS lock prior to launch? Launching in manual mode would n0t involve the GPS and I am not positive, but probably also the accelerometers.
