Revisit a age old debate, Esc's mounted on the arms.

Agreed, I didn't bother to check the requirements of a typical large-prop motor. Seems they draw less than I'd assumed (shame on me). Anyway, it just reinforces the need to do one's homework when picking parts and sizing components. My comments weren't meant specifically for you as you seem to...

Having the correct wire size for the load is critical; I*I*R is the power loss through the wire. With that many motors, I adds up quickly and then you square it. So even a very small resistance in the wire becomes significant. If we take #12 wire with 1.58mOhm/ft DC resistance (pulled from here)...

what? no 7sec 'radio' delay so you can dump those turkeys? Bet it'll be good. Unfortunately, most of the time I'll have to catch the archive due to other commitments but I'll live stream when I can.

Recent UK Prosecution of Drone Pilot.

No one should EVER, willingly accept increased Govt regulations. The only purpose they serve is for some ignorant (or greedy) bureaucrat to pick and choose who wins and who loses. They also stifle creativity, ingenuity, and growth anywhere they're implemented. </rant>

S.W.A.R.M. sounds like a good source of positive publicity for amateurs and pros alike in our hobby. Not that I relish the idea of someone needing the service, but I'd love to be able to participate in something like this. I've been seeing 'thermal' camera-on-board modules online lately. Those...

    Belated hello from SE Tennessee

Are there any MR fliers on here from the Chattanooga area? I know there's a club field nearby, but I've yet to make time to drop in when people are there.

Just saw this on Drudge... thank you NYPD. Not.

I understand the severity of an aerial strike, but dang, these guys need to be reigned in.

The top of Page 4 basically screws everyone depending on the looseness of interpretation of "any conduct that endangers individuals and property on the surface..." Flying w/in the confines of your house risks damage to sheetrock walls, etc.

Call me gullible, but the logic seems sound. "Ya pays ya money and takes ya chances" as they say. Probably won't matter within 10yrs the way things are going in a hand-basket in this country. The trajectory of govt regs is unsustainable at any level.

Good show last night. Was streaming it live for most of the hour. Only had a buffer issue 3-4 times for a couple of sec. Looking forward to future shows.

Seeking opinions on first FPV 'toy' copter

It's only 1200 sq ft w/ a basement so linear distance shouldn't be an issue. At some point in the future I'd like to be able to just open the front door and zoom around the yard/house from the recliner. :) That would definitely be safer than getting on the ladder to check the gutters before or...

Oh great... is this true? (registration)

I agree completely. I've spent over half my 40yr life making things do more than they were intended because that's what I had to work with or all I could afford. I think the best thing my dad did for me growing up was tell me I had to maintain my own vehicle (car, bikes, etc); as opposed to...

missed the link in that post. Is there much lag in the ominus since the fpv is wifi? I'd like to be able to do BLOS in the house.
