that sounds exceptional for rubber duck antennas and 5.8. the step up would be a directional antenna or a set of CP antennas with one being a high gain directional type..... Were you pushing through alot of static to get that far or was it pretty clear up to a certain distance?

lets say you calibrate your tx in tx cali....... open your radio menu to sub trim, move ail to a side so it's not green and an abvious change. Now unplug the flight pack and plug it back, does the ail still sit over there? one problem your gonna see is if it's the gyro making the drift, manual...

that thing is fisheye city aint it. nice it has a plug to go straight into immersion tx's. i probably would avoid it over the on screen display,,,,, i'm a board cam guy so not only a case but a live display too. not real fpv friendly with extra weight and mass the other thing fpv guys worry...
