5d is a heavy camera I can imagine you will want all the power you can get.

Looks like this is going to be a great camera. Maybe someone like Jes who knows more about cameras can chim in, but I think the Canon Rebel is more in the DSLR (semi-professional) range. This new sony camera is falling more into the new cross breed of camera which is bigger then your point...

The other thing I like about Bart's idea is that it could possible help from a perspective point of view.

I think the plan is to have a better field of view for the camera with out the arms getting in the way.
