    Newb questions4.

I start with the camera. If you are going for an FPV build then perhaps start with a frame you would like to fly. Then I start adding up the weight of things I know I want: frame, camera gimbal, electronics, etc. Then, as a really rough estimate, I assume batteries are going to be about...

    f450 motor/prop upgrade

25C is more than enough. 5000mAh would be a fine size too.

    450 Quadcopter Build Advice?

Unless you are really into the ideal of building I would just skip it and buy a Phantom 3.

    f450 motor/prop upgrade

FPV components on a 450 would be fine. Based on what you say I would just get a decent 4S battery and try it out. Worst case is you don't like it and still want to replace the motors, but you can use the 4S battery in any event. Try this (or something similar)...

    f450 motor/prop upgrade

What's your weight without a battery as it is right now? And do you plan to add anything (gimbal, camera, whatever)? To find the right propulsion system we first need to know what we are hauling. Exclude the battery for now because a move to 4S will require a different battery anyway.

    f450 motor/prop upgrade

Got it. I would try a 4s pack before doing anything else. That will make a big difference. The E300 system is actually pretty nice on a 450.

Cool -- so you have the E300 system. What battery are you using?

    f450 motor/prop upgrade

Depends on your all-up weight, but on the stock 450 I would look at going with 4s and the 2216 1100 kv with 8, 9 or 10 inch props. Are you running 3s or 4s now? If you are at 3s then moving to 4s could be all of the additional power you need. Also, did the kit come with the new E300 (or E310)...

    lipo wont fully charge.

If the total voltage is 16.7 and all 4 cells are at about 4.175 volts, then it is so close that I would wonder if the charger is just a bit out of calibration and is coming up a little short of the shutoff voltage. Or, it could just be that this is a bad battery. If you are seeing a difference...

    UAV CAN SAVE LIVES

Check out the DJI E310 propulsion system. I would run it at 4S on an F450. http://www.dji.com/product/e310 Or, the T-Motor 2216 motors are a nice upgrade. Again, go with 4S power. http://www.rctigermotor.com/html/2013/Professional_0912/45.html

    Newb questions4.

Good questions. 1. How do you properly gauge the power of a motor? My initial thought was the kv rating but I've read that those numbers Don't really paint a clear picture and that they don't mean much if you're comparing between different brands as each company has its own standards of...

    lipo wont fully charge.

A couple of things to check if you can: (1) check voltage on a second meter to get a little more resolution on that 1/10 of a volt -- is it a full 1/10 or just a few hundredths off?, and (2) check each of the 4 cells individually. You may have a bad cell or the battery may need to be re-balanced.

How to Increase Flight Time in an RC Helicopter???

I don't mind broken english if I can understand it (my graduate econometrics instructor pronounced "R" and "L" exactly the same, which was lots of fun if the model included lagged variables (L1, L2, etc.) and interest rates (R)). Anyway... Is the message here just to buy more batteries? I think...

PRODUCT REVIEW: Think Tank Photo Airport Helipack

Nice point. You could easily put a camera in there and have a great portable photo setup for easy travel. My current favorite grab-and-go option is the Panasonic LX-100 and it would fit in there easily. Given the space and flexibility maybe even a GH4 could fit.

    Quad Copter Build- Need Criticism

More on the heli vs plane radio issue: Most radios out there are legacy items with a deep history in RC airplane and helicopter use. All sorts of odd items and settings on your radio are aimed at flight control and stabilization -- something that is almost completely unnecessary with modern...
