    MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Apm 2

Yes, it should be a good one. Biggest thing, IMO, we finally nailed down the yaw control. It's really good now.

    Hello from SteadiDrone!

Hey Duran, funny finding you around here. ;) Are your new arms still using bullet connectors? You used to have the bullet connectors built into the hub, but now changed to the new system where the wires wrap around and through that slot. I assumed there were no connectors, and you just left...

Automated Multi-Rotor and a Moving Beacon?

Yes, I've seen that video before, pretty cool. Have any customers actually gotten it working? I haven't seen that yet. Also, as I say, we're still a long way off from fully autonomous filming. They obviously had somebody on the ground who did the take-off and, error handling.

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

Well... maybe it's not so simple. I know at least in our case, the quads can get a little wobbly coming down, since they are descending into their own downwash, which is turbulent and causes wobbles. Getting through that on the way down with a motor out will be harder to do than going up.

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

Peter, I agree. I apologize for my part in all this. I had no idea what I was stepping into here. I did not know the history between these groups, or that any of this kind of behaviour was going on. If you recall, all I originally did was ask for proof of these allegations that we were...

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

I have to say first off, that this is me talking here, not as a team member, but me personally. And I do this only because you are now attacking me personally. I do not in any way represent DIYD or Ardu*. A) I don't know that you do know more, you probably just think you do. That you and...

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

How is this different than any other volunteer run, open source project? Are the people at CyanogenMod paid? I'm using their code on my phone. I love it. It's not perfect, but it's better than what came on the phone. I don't think they are paid. They must be doing it for the love of it...

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

See 5 and 6 above. Not going to argue against this either. Yeah, it happens. Can you really fault people for being... people? Again, many of these people are real academics. They aren't used to, and don't enjoy, dealing with typical internet behaviours. Simple as that. And given the fact...

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

Deflection? Hardly. I simply didn't want to start airing dirty laundry here, on another forum. I don't think it's the place for it, it's ugly, most people probably don't want to see this stuff, I don't want to start a board war, etc. etc. etc. etc. But, seeing as how a few people want to...

Automated Multi-Rotor and a Moving Beacon?

Yeah, realistically, I think we are a few years away yet from true, push-button, follow-me, action-cam quads. But only a few years I'd think. The programs required for stable flight, and basic GPS navigation is pretty much freely available to all, right now, from a number of sources. But to...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

You sound like a true professional. Obviously I'm nowhere near that yet. But this is all a great discussion guys.

Programmed failure could be simulated in the FC if the code is open source. Or, you could probably rig up a big FET feeding one of the ESC's that you can turn off with a radio switch.

Wired Magazine cover and article about drones

Kevin Finisterre, I'm not at all interested in having this out with you. I will give you credit for at least coming up with clear examples of the allegations you are making. However, my experience with most of the things you say are completely different. I would hope any people actually...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

I think this obviously is the critical point in the whole discussion. If your all-up-weight requires much more than 50% throttle to hover, then you have a serious problem if you lose a motor. Because you don't just lose 1 motor, you're going to effectively lose 2, because the opposite motor...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

Really, it's that bad huh? I'd been moving in the direction of Octos because I assumed they did offer failsafe. But if they don't, and those 8 motors and 8 ESC are now each a single point of failure... that's actually not attractive at all. So is that how it is? An Octo carrying a weight...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

IMO, that's the only place where a helicopter has a real advantage. You can probably get twice the flight time out of a similar size/weight setup with a heli than you can a multi. And then if you have a gas powered heli, double it again.

Automated Multi-Rotor and a Moving Beacon?

Simply put, yes, absolutely what you want is being worked on. The Arducopter program is working towards just this goal. In fact, I think most of the program is already there, and all we're missing is the linkage between something like a GPS equiped smartphone, to the Copter itself. I believe...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

The crashing, simply put, has nothing at all to do with *how* the heli flies (ie: how easy it is to fly and how it feels). And everything to do with testing code which may or may not work. As well as the effects of mechanical vibration on the flight controller, where that vibration is at least...

    Can receiver outputs be shared/split?

Looking into this a bit more, it seems like it's is as simple as PWM out to the 4-wire RGB LED bulb. I would strongly consider skipping the whole microcontroller thing for what you want to do, and simply use a 2803 Darlington Transistor to get it's signal from the WKM board directly. You'll...

    Can receiver outputs be shared/split?

Yup, they could. Of course you have to wait for them to do it, and they would have to see a market for them to want to do it. That's why I like open source, I wanted something, so I just did it. ;) Plingboot: What you propose is actually potentially a good idea. I don't know how RGB LED's...
