MR aerial cube challenge - Autoquad = this is how MR GPS should be!

I was just checking out the MR cube contest over on diydrones.com. "TO ALL AQ PILOTS. DIY Drones has a challenge to pilots to have there aircraft fly a 50 meter cube that is 20 meters above the ground." - from the autoquad forum This was generated from the GPS log file. WOW! There are...

    Hoverfly Odd GPS behavior

Hey Fred, I don't fly HF but I am fairly familiar with GPS having done a good bit of ground surveying with them and working out issues of working with them under dense and high rainforest tree canopy. One thing I see is that there is a lot of potential electrical interference in fairly close...

Coax Prop Orientation - Am I overthinking this????

Bart makes an excellent suggestion! Higher pitch props on bottom tend to provide overall better performance. Pretty sure they have APC 12x4.5 slow flyers.

Coax Prop Orientation - Am I overthinking this????

And yes you need ccw and cw props so that when mounting with the leading edge up (side you can see the prop size printed on) they are spinning the right direction. Looks like you have APC 12x3.8 slow flyers so you need a set of APC LP12038SF on top and a set of LP12038SFP (counter rotating) on...

All my sh#$ talks to satellites! Doesn't yours? :highly_amused: I feel bad for her in a way because she doesn't even know what she doesn't know. I could never handle a puppet job. I sure hope their RTH feature works REALLY well. Shawn

Unfortunately, Hoverfly still seems to have some GPS and AH issues from what I have read. I see they announced a GCS but we have no details on that. It better have waypoint navigation or they are seriously continuing to miss a good part of the market. IMHO. If they can get the GPS/AH features...

No doubt. I am now truly worried about the future of legally flying MR's in the states. If your gonna put a pretty face on your product at least educate it. Plus, nothing unique about any of the features described. Been available on other boards for a while. Lame...

    My brushless gimbal result

Thanks for your quick reply. I have an RX100 and a GH2; but I really like the RX100 because of its size, impressive images, and the fact that it will fit on the brushless gimbals. It is stupid where they put the hdmi out though! Maybe I'll just sell the GH2 and get a Nex 5n. I am mostly doing...

    My brushless gimbal result

Will it be possible to mount a Sony RX100 with mini-hdmi out the bottom to the plate that comes with the Gothelirc VX5N brushless gimbal? Also, will it allow for manual tilt control from an MK or HFP FC? Thanks, Shawn

Thank you, Al. Can you share what features you have already incorporated in the ground station? Hoping you can let us all know sooner than later! Best, Shawn

    Hoverfly XY-8 Build, Rev4, Hoverfly

@smartaquad - I run an XY-8 and an X8 on MK and I have my props alternating rotation on top and bottom. So, 2 are CW and 2 are CCW on top and the props below spin opposite. I don't know of any +'s or -'s. @Aerovideo - Yep, the idea is to clear the FOV and no there does not seem to be any...

    Hoverfly XY-8 Build, Rev4, Hoverfly

That's excellent Bart! So you should safely get ~15 minute flights with a little more than 80% left in the batteries if I did the math right. Can wait to see some pics and video.

Hoverfly Today's excitement, Hoverfly PRO beta firmware first flights

HF, Would you be so kind as to give us an idea of the features that will be included with the waypoint navigation? # of waypoints per mission? auto take-off? auto land? AND some sort of timeframe? I really need to know if this is going to happen in the next couple months so I can be...

Hoverfly Today's excitement, Hoverfly PRO beta firmware first flights

I thought they were using uBlox now? I sure hope so as it does appear to be much better. I would also like to see some sort of ground plane incorporated into it as well. They do make a difference! edit: Bart's is a mediatek :(

    Hoverfly Firmware Updates

This is VERY encouraging news, Al! Sorry to hear about the troubles but hopefully you and the team are back on track. Can you elaborate on waypoint navigation at this time? How many points, maximum distance out (hopefully beyond rx/tx contact), POI, etc.? I would love to go back to flying...

    LED controller, jdrones ioBoard hack

Does HFP output Mavlink? I thought this controller had to be hooked up to a board that output mavlink in order to turn lights on/off, etc. when the FC is doing things like gps hold, etc.? This board looks to perform really well with the AutoQuad 6 FC and Graupner TX. controls led's and sends...
