    Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS

I ordered the Mag before I knew I needed the resistors, so just waiting on them in the mail. Otherwise I have it all wired up and need to get it mounted on a post (weekend project). I should have it in the air by early next week. We are about to get hit by this massive rain and wind storm...

How to train your camera operator

Those look great and they have the eVOX voice activation and headsets. There are black versions for $50 a set. I might have to give them a try. Thanks

How to train your camera operator

Love the various ideas. I agree communication is very important. As a pilot, I need to walk around some times to see obstacles so voice communication can get difficult. We definitely need to find some good radio headsets that are voice activated (or some sort of hands free options.) Anyone...

How to train your camera operator

So, I have had the joy of bouncing around with a few different camera operators to various jobs and most have little or no RC experience. Even the one I work with most does not use a remote control very often. Coming off our last shoot, he realized he needs to learn to fly a heli, so he can...

Relatively cheap hexacopter for aerial photography?

Personally, I think you went too cheap on EVERYTHING except Naza and maybe frame if you want to use this for Aerial photography with a camera like the nex5. This might be a good intro multi to see if you can fly, but you will end up rebuilding everything soon after if you stick with it. I am...

Hoverfly New Hoverfly PRO Firmware v4.6

Same, when I turned AH off and just let the stick stay at hover, it held height just fine :) I have not used AH much anyway.

Hoverfly New Hoverfly PRO Firmware v4.6

My tests of the AH in 4.6 so far also has the rapid decrease in throttle when switching AH on. I turned the gain on AH way down and it improved. I tuned for one flight through, so more tuning might be needed.

    Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS

I am not sure if it was clearly posted in the forums, but HF announced on their knowledgebase that DIYdrones released a MediaTek MT3329 GPS V2.0 which has the following improvements over the V1. -3DR uBlox footprint -Larger ground plane -Battery for hot starts -New firmware - No longer uses...

    Show us what you shot.

I did not use a hack. It looked fine for the job and wanted consistency. I also did not use the Video out but used an FPV cam for the camera operator. It was a bit if an extra challenge to frame the shot with a slightly different focal length, but we are happy with most of the footage. I am...

Flying on an Airline with LiPo Batteries

Just to report back, I made it through security with 8x 5s 5300, 8x 4s 4000, 3x 3s 4000, and a few small 3s. I left the 800e at home (again!) so no 6s this time. Although i would have made it through security with them. I was pulled aside an they dd the test for explosives and had to have a...

Panasonic GH2 general and hack info base

Thanks for that input. I did just realize I screws up on my thinking about the 1080 vs 720 output. In my head I was thinking 720 was recorded when set to 1080, not the other way around. As for the trigger, it has saved me many times just to let the camera operator start recording in the air...

Panasonic GH2 general and hack info base

OK, I feel like a complete idiot now. I should know better than to try to use new equipment for a shoot that is a week away. I have been getting a GH2 ready for a shoot next week and first realized the standard HDMI wire does not fit. Tabb is saving me on that one and sending an HDMI 90 degree...

    Balancing Xoar props

Oh, the agony of balancing all of these props. I just got an order of JFX props 12's, 13's and 14's. The hubs are severely wacked!!! I have been balancing for hours and only about half way through. blade balance is actually really consistent, hubs, not so much. I have resorted to sanding one...

Flying on an Airline with LiPo Batteries

I finally got a hold of someone with TSA and all they could tell me was there is an 8gram lithium limit. I tried to dig further to get more details, but she would not allow me to speak with a manager saying what they have on the screen is all they can provide. Not the best service and she...

Flying on an Airline with LiPo Batteries

Can someone who has traveled for photo gigs give some input? I have flown with about 6 4s 4000mah batteries, but I am headed for a shoot and have to fly into San Diego next week. I will have 2 multi-rotors and an 800e class heli. I will need about 4 sets of packs for each heli (8x 4s 5000mah...
