Dampening in Frame - Droidworx Build

Actually what you are contemplating is not a good idea. You need to have totally instant response from the motors without any flex in the arms. Proper balance and the right choice of props will stop the vibration at source. reduce prop. overhang etc. etc. Dampening of the FC board is another story.

DJI Naza as APV flight controller

I think Ken has summed it up pretty well. Model stability comes first and then the camera mount has less work to do. As far as props. go, the less pitch and weight the better. Large dia. may give better overall lift but at the expense of stability. Low aspect ratio blades are more efficient...

    2nd Hex Crash :(

There are several ways around it. One is to use the trim and the other is to set the throttle curve so that you can descend without going near the 10%. But if you open the throttle again within 5 sec the motors will restart instantly. A bit like the discuss throw launch. There are options...

What is the I2C Octo Isolator

With MK it can actually be far worse. If a BL fails and starts to burn a FET the result usually takes out at least three of your motors and probably 4 Bl's in about 5 seconds. Also the PDB. Seen it happen a few times now. The biggest problem with MK is that everything is open plan and gathers...

1st Contest For 2012....let's get started

Ah, well spotted Boris goes without saying these days. Maybe for 2012 Bernie wont be playing god with the telemetry!!!! Having worked with him in the past I know what he is like. You have to feel sorry for Lewis Hamilton and Mclaren.

    settings for HW esc's

Geoff It really depends on the motors as to which is best the low Kv ones seem to need High or Med. Ditto the nixx. it is much safer.

1st Contest For 2012....let's get started

A somewhat disturbing remark. Technicalities or ambiguous rules makes no difference. By your own admission what you seem to be saying is that you can finally join in because your standard of entry might not be as professional as some others. Why cant it be just as much fun for you as anyone...

How have you built your Flamewheel?

As the DJI official camera mount is a couple of months away I guess you could do your own thing in the meantime.

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

Jes You are right, Publishing is our best earner. followed by supply to other publishers. Jobbing just pays for the aircraft to do my work and also the clients. Agency work is not what it was since the digital camera made a photographer out of almost anyone. The moving image is what sorts the...

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

Interesting I have not been back in the UK for ten years or so. I used to write ops. manuals for various aircraft and then have the pleasure of dealing with the CAA to get them approved. Most of the CAA officials are retired police officers or solicitors. They do have a few engineers. Like most...

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

Pling what kind of exam are the CAA up to now. I know from the past that they love farting about with paperwork. they have a form and a fee for almost everything. Or is this a BMFA test?

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

I have been hearing that for many years but the same old faces are still there at the top making a fortune out of weddings and aerials. The main problem with doing aerial work or any other form of jobbing contract is that you only get paid once for the job. There are other ways to get paid...

1st Contest For 2012....let's get started

Here's an idea. The theme of the contest is show your own shadow OR reflection in a interesting and creative way with any backdrop. No people involved. No photoshop, just a straight image from the onboard camera. Nice and simple? NB. any cgi or overlays can be picked up with the latest...

Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

I would not bother to build these things if they did not pay for themselves. As a full time aerial pro shooter who uses full size aircraft and helicopters on a weekly basis to earn a living it was the natural way forward to cut costs and integrate models into the business. Whereas I am not about...

    DJI issue,s

Dave I am using 5.800mA 14.8V. 30C The prop.is a special 11x4 carbon that weighs only 14grams It is a wide paddle type of design. Rapid response and lift efficiency is the aim. It is well ahead of the 14x4.7 APC which was until this one the best I have tested on the rig for lift efficiency. as...

    DJI issue,s

The motors that I am talking about are of course the very excellent Tiger Motor 4008's I did not hear back from them so I did the investigation myself and found the answer. The 4008's are 600 kv. In other words low Kv but you would be wrong in assuming that they should be set up with a low...

    1001copters.com Aluminum vs Carbon Fiber

The important thing to understand about Carbon Fiber is that the tows of carbon have to be orientated along the lines of stress. Take for example the suspension of a modern F1 car. It is very strong along the lines where the loads are focussed but very fragile in most other directions. In the...
