    Loc-tite on Prop studs

A lot depends on how hot the motors run. If the plastic softens then it's a problem. I once has an issue with general purpose resin on epoxy props for pylon racers. You need the right stuff.

    Loc-tite on Prop studs

In this example from the F1-535, the prop. (made from carbon infusion nano tube technology) has the mounting holes drilled directly in the hub. Seen along side an APC you will note the added torsional rigidity built into the hub section. APC's bend!!! This method saves weight by removing the...

    Loc-tite on Prop studs

Alum threads on alum nuts will eventually seize on you. It's an engineering No No. If it picks-up its welded together. Hard anodised maybe!

    Loc-tite on Prop studs

I would be careful doing that as loc-tite can damage the plastic hub of the prop. and it could fly apart. Also never use it on servo arms. They sell a special washer for that job.

    Best 360 pan gimbal available?

I think that the yaw function of the model is adequate to ball park the camera heading and then a inner axis that moves about 15 degrees total is a more accurate solution that can integrate with the coming autonomous nose to the target functions.

What Props do we need ? 14 x 4 light weight Carbon ?

About two years ago I made a series of props that were in the 14 - 15 dia. with downturned tips. It had to work because the typical airflow into a prop follows a line that comes in from all angles (mostly from the sides) and converges towards the hub on the downstream side. However the tests...

    Best 360 pan gimbal available?

The best does not have 360 yaw, it is useless. a highly stabilised 15 deg is all you need.

What Props do we need ? 14 x 4 light weight Carbon ?

Jes In my former life designing race cars and engines I have like most had to do the odd uturn and admit I was wrong. Along with considerable success comes the usual failures. In the last year a lot of experiments change my thinking. I was one of the pioneers of large models with...

What Props do we need ? 14 x 4 light weight Carbon ?

When you study the lift curves of some of these very Large props they often are less efficient at the lower end of the lift scale, so unless you are running them at the very high end of the scale it is pointless to have them. i.e. if your motor prop. combination can lift 3 kilos + then what is...

What Props do we need ? 14 x 4 light weight Carbon ?

Lars The problem with wet lay-up epoxy is the weight. Carbon prepreg has a much better strength to weight ratio. Carbon nano tube filler is the highest strength/weight of any known material and could be molded with the prepreg using the infusion method. A square meter of 200gram twill prepreg...

What Props do we need ? 14 x 4 light weight Carbon ?

I was making 14 and 15 x4 carbon props. last year and then I made an important discovery. Now I make a very low aspect ratio 11x4 with a wide blade and very different section.

Improving tilt resolution on camera gimbal

The initial response that you see is a typical signature of the ADX 620 gyro, it is too high on the full scale range to see the initial movement. I think it is only 8 bit ADC. Nothing can be done about that. A stand alone imu with a greater sensitivity is the only way. IT IS COMING.

Tau Labs Latest OP Coptercontol firmware

Jes Better latency but it takes a little work to get it there. Naza and WKM is too slow and has restricted pitch travel and no way to change it with direct drive servos. With geared drives and remote pots. you can set the travel anywhere you want but at the expense of resolution and speed. They...

    WooKong M gimbal travel problem.

It is DJI's way of upping the resolution. Even with MKS HV787 servos in direct drive it is too slow. You are better off with a CC board as a stand alone camera stabilizer as you have many more parameters to play with. I have not tried Picloc V3 but V2 was a total waste of time and money IMHO...
