    Gunters new octocopter build

Ben, to anodise aluminium, it has to be a certain grade, otherwise it's not possible. I know the booms are okay to anodise, but not sure about the other bits...it's something I have been meaning to find out because anodising looks nicer! I also have a powder coater 1/2 mile away from me who does...

LEDs.. WOW these babys are BRIGHT!

Nice one Dave! I am going to rely on the voltage readout/alarm doohicky for low voltage warning. I have one the same as yours...hopefully that buzzer can be heard at 50M!

Very nice Juz. I would be so nervous flying in the trees like that...I expect you have had a few encounters with branches etc?

    GPS and LED bracket

Boris, I did think about when it's on the ground, but you can easily bend over and have a look. It's a bit more difficult to see it when it's in the air, if it's pointing backwards or upwards...the servo is a much better solution. Your next project ;)

Haha, yes, get the banana boys together with their quads! I just have to figure out a way to transport this thing now...it certainly won't fit in the baggage hold like it is now!

    Gunters new octocopter build

Quick update: Just waiting for a few more ali parts before I can send the whole lot for powder coating. I mocked up the center plates and booms, which all fit nicely. Boom clamps should be here next week, so then everything will be ready for final assembly! All up weight is just over 2kg. I...

Thanks for the suggestion Jes, I'll see if I can get some smaller cheap props in the meantime. Motor wise, I expect I couldn't go wrong with the Quadrocopter.us motors: (not the actual motor from them, but a similar motor with the same spec at a much better price!) Technical Info Lithium cell...

Thanks again for the help. I will fly initially with the 880kv motors, but just leave off the camera and anything else that doesn't need to be there. I'll see what the Tiger motors cost in the UK...

Thanks for the help guys. Could you suggest a motor that would be capable of lifting something a bit heavier, without breaking the bank? I would ideally like to carry about 1-1.5kg.

Right now, I have mocked up the airframe and have some weights for my new airframe. I'm just hoping it's all going to work, I don't want to have to buy new motors!! The airframe, motors, esc's, props, landing gear all weigh 2.3kg. I have to allow another 1kg for batteries, if I use 2 5000mah...

Denny, I think the goal is more about originality and and flying, rather than getting everyone doing exactly the same thing...but that's just my take on it!
