Rock ESC - a new open source ESC

cool project, what's the features like compared to http://forums.openpilot.org/topic/7537-openpilot-esc-flies/ from openpilot, I think its great that multirotor taylored esc's are finally being made

ESC Settings - battery type and low voltage

Try this http://multirotor.wordpress.com/2011/03/10/multirotor-esc-settings/ Yes, select nimh to basically disable the low voltage cut off

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

Hey Bart, basically dropped down to helping dist op boards, shut the rest down. Not enough time for a very full time job, young family and a business. Just enjoying building for myself, and flying for fun, so hope to be able to take part in the next contest. Currently surfing the web on a...

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

If you use the camera stabilisation feature that is built into to coptercontrol software, but mount the controller directly on the camera mount, it won't work. The copter control is compensating for whatever its current attitude is for the camera, imagine this scenario, the copter is level, and...

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

Yea, pretty much that should work, I played around for a while but was never happy Now with axis lock available, it could be quite a good solution

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

Its just the way they have done it, not 100% sure why, but I believe its first and foremost a flight controlled, and requires the 5inputs to decide that the signals its reciving are valid

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

That will work, but you neeed to give it at least 5 dummy signals (roll/pitch/yaw/throttle/mode so best bet is to join all 6 RC wires together and plug into a spare channel on the rx, and use that channel to control tilt

Tau Labs OP CC for camera mount stabilization

i have don the mount on a frame setup, works well, but you just need too solder the 6 RC input wires together to fake the inputs. Tried the mount on camera option, no real success and unstablne oscillations due to camera mass

    3 mins from 8000mah???

That or it needs a diet :)

    3 mins from 8000mah???

12 ah gives 8:27 flight time at 5950 grams all up 16 ah gives 10:20 flight time at 6440 grams http://multirotor.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/multirotor-calc/

    3 mins from 8000mah???

Hey Ross, what does she weigh minus the battery ? and what flight time do you need ? can do a quick calc for you

    3 mins from 8000mah???

3.85 volts is the 60% mark, so you have used 40%, if you take them to 20% left (double the time) terminal voltage will be in the high 3.6's the in-flight voltage will be lower during flying due to the current load and battery internal resistance

oh jeese, dont give me any more ideas :) you never know what will happen !

haha pete - you say that about everything i build and you are right, but i love ugly :)

and now for something slightly different

2 reasons - i love how they yaw (like a boat, not a bulldozer) , and i love having something "diferent" theres about 20 copies of my vtail now, so this is a chance to try something different

and now for something slightly different

its my in-line variant of the Vtail Quad (i have vtailed everything quads, y6's octos) needs alot of tuning, total flight time 2 minutes this is a maiden flight,un-tuned and with a decent wind coming down the street, bouncing over the gutter and off the wall - not idea....but its 8pm,lights...

    XY-8 Build

looks like she has power to spare, very responsive, good job. did you run diferent gain setting between pitch and roll to compensate ? (i know i do on the long vtail8)
