Hi - I was told you might be the man to talk to about mounting a gimbal onto a full sized heli (one you sit in).. Conventionally used equipment seems very expensive, and I reckon it should be possible to mount an AV200 or similar on one - but was wandering if anyone had made a protective dome...

You got it Chris! Will send DennyR a message..

Mounting a multirotor gimbal on a full size heli..?

Thanks MombasaFlash, I do indeed know Eric H.. He has a SR rig here in Nairobi, and lives just around the corner from me, in fact we're meant to be meeting for a drink next week. I have a Skyjib 8 with AV200 here, and so am fairly familiar with a conventional gimbal setup.. and am not quite...

Mounting a multirotor gimbal on a full size heli..?

Has anyone mounted a multirotor gimbal (AV200 or similar) on a full size heli? There must be a way to do it that envelops the gimbal in a wind and weather resistant casing.. obviously weight becomes less of an issue. Anyone with any experience or ideas on how to do it, please let me know.. Barny

    Photohigher skyline rsgs

Although I am running 1.1.6, I seem to have overcome this problem.. the steps I took were as follows: 1. Make sure the skyline is absolutely perpendicular to the camera tray. 2. Use a spirit level (I used a mobile phone app) to ensure that the camera tray is perfectly level when setting the...

    Photohigher skyline rsgs

Interesting stuff on the friction thanks Jes1111 and everyone else.. and the chicken is pretty good also! I haven't yet bothered with the H or Y harnesses as I am not struggling from jitters whilst bench testing - but perhaps I should.. I'm currently on location in East Africa for a series on...

    Photohigher skyline rsgs

I'm also slightly struggling with the RSGS.. I seem to get great results on the ground, but get an oscilation once airborne. I am running a wookong M, skyjib 8 with AV200 and have a canon 7d mounted (at the COG). I originally had really bad probelms with my tilt axis, and seemed to get these a...

Very small quad for travel photography?

There is no denying the F330/GoPro combo is a lot of fun, and it is possible to get fair video if you bring the gains down.. even in wind I've got some ok stuff by anticipating the direction and letting it drift with it. I do like cmans lower centre of gravity with the belly mounted battery...

    Just Say No

I let a friend try my F330 last week - had taken the GoPro off and got it hovering and handed over the controls.. he off course went straight up into some wind and lost control.. as it was hurtling towards trees at about 70ft, he handed over the controls. I only managed to slightly slow it...

Very small quad for travel photography?

I have done this with a DJI 330 Flame Wheel with Naza and GoPro2 attached with standard foot.. I also have a stinger tx that I will put on, but will have to drill the GoPro housing for the cable. Has plenty of power and get 5mins endurance at 1750m with a 3S 2200.

    Flying in the rain

As it is the wet season here in Kenya I am regularly being frustrated by being grounded by weather. It has occurred to me that many brush-less motor driven fixed wings operate in the rain, so why shouldn't we? I'm not talking about torrential downpour, but, for example on my F330, the control...

    Power loss during flight

I've just experienced a similar problem on a Naza F330.. and this one isn't the battery as I've tried with several. I built it yesterday and did several 5 minute flights with a GoPro with no problem at all. Then I did another flight and only a minute in and it behaved almost as though it was...

    F550 motor upgrade options?

Jamie, Apologies - you are right, I was looking at a 880Kv version on ebay.. How much weight are you happily lifting with yours?

    F550 motor upgrade options?

In theory the sunnysky 2216 motors are also only meant to run up to 3s.. Are the manufacturers just covering themselves or should a shorter lifespan be expected when running motors over their rated voltage? Have you heard of any reliability issues? (obviously not expecting to get same...

    F550 motor upgrade options?

Thanks for the info.. but out of interest what sort of ATOW are you at? The Suppo 2814 motors I've found are in theory only rated up to 3S and up to 40A, which is over the stock DJI 30A esc. So I'm a bit worried about burning stuff out being heavily laden and at altitude.

    Dji Wookong crash

I had something similar with my first flight with Naza, checked everything and after about 4 hours of head scratching finally figured out the FC was in back to front.. obvious in retrospect, but the manual hadn't been too clear.

    F550 motor upgrade options?

At the moment my Naza F550 is running a mix of 3 dji 2212 and 3 dji 2215... I know not ideal, but I'm in Africa and next day delivery is just not an option and it's what I had available. I am also carrying quite a weight, 3.4kg incl 2 x 3s 2200, and I'm at an altitude of 1750m. I'm waiting for...

    Hey from East Africa

Thanks for the welcome Bart.. for an African flavour - here's a GoPro still above thousands of flamingos I got a couple of weeks back.. I'm going there again tomorrow with the kids to see if I can't get some decent video footage. Don't fancy bird strike much, but it's an amazing site, and got...

    Hey from East Africa

I'm English by birth, but have spent the last 12 years in various parts of East Africa. I've been flying multirotors for several months now and am completely hooked. I do confess that there are possibly several dozen bits of rotor I have failed to find after some heroic initial crashes, but...
