    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

Jes, thanks for the long response. I guess the wind question was related to my being told you couldn't over spec your motors. I wonder if it would help to make a shroud that makes your camera more aerodynamic. I've learned that every facet comes into play when wind is involved. And rarely is...

    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

When you get your BG perfectly tuned for a calm day and then go fly on a windy day, does the gimbal still do a decent job getting rid of all the jolts the gusts give the flight controller? Unless flying in manual mode, and even then, these helis just dont like more than 10 mph of wind. Flying...

    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

I've seen belt drives on brushless conversions, like for the AV series. Why does that not work? Thanks for the feedback. All interesting stuff.

    brushless gimbals and wind.....question

I've still not converted from servo based gimbals and have a few questions. From what I gather, brushless gimbals are very sensitive to being extremely well balanced. I asked the question of why you couldn't just use larger motors. I was told that it just didnt work that way and the gimbal...

Skyjib 6 Super with 5D Zenmuse and 1 motor fail (video)

Jess is saying if you have ratchets, you sometimes can't find a happy spot unless it's right between where the ratchets hold the throttle. I had this experience as well and decided to remove the metal tab that makes the ratchet work. But more than anything a gentle well tuned throttle curve is...

I wish I could help you as I am curious how the Sbus works on the SX now. C'mon, someone on here must know the answer.

Skyjib 6 Super with 5D Zenmuse and 1 motor fail (video)

Is that a WooChang or an A2? Impressive that it didnt even yaw.

Best flight controler on the market (Feb 2014)

I wonder if the pixhawk will gain "pro" status. For those that are stuck with the DJI proprietary BS, you would have to have a Woochang or A2 to use the zenmuse. I have had flawless results with the hoverfly pro. But my jobs have all been very simple flying. All LOS. If you need more...

    The Hover Mast. Legal dronage!

I know it's what Hoverfly has been focusing on. Haven't seen anything from them though

I've only got one set of hands..... pilot, photographer or both?

With all the bad movies out there I could use that yawn control as well. :) The jr 9503 radio has sliders on the sides which make it very easy to override tilt while still maintaining a nice grip I the radio. Although you lose framing ability I became pretty good at doing ice calculated smooth...

What battery connector do you use for your 6 cells

Hot damn Bart, I guess I wont type what you just wrote again. Took most the words right out of my hands. Though I have to say I have not had much luck on the leaning the + terminals to touch first. Although there are things you can do to potentially rid of the spark i think you should just...

    XAircraft SuperX

Yeah, I think it's inexcusable now to not have the basic GUI showing the control input and switch modes. Bad move on their part which should be changed immediately.

    XAircraft SuperX

Nothing is fool proof, yet. I doubt there will be a controller worthy of being called totally reliable for a long time. There are just so many factors involved that influence the FC. Maybe with something like MK where the components are proprietary and very well made for an exact purpose...

It's ok, all you have to do is put some black gaffers tape over that bar code the government tattooed on your neck at birth.

XAircraft X650 Pro Will Not Yaw to the Left

If you put your heli on a concrete floor, or something slippery, does it yaw on its own when you start to take off? Or does it fly normal and just have no left authority? If it takes off level and has all other control but left yaw I would say you either have a bad pot in your radio or...

    Co-Axial naming conventions

I've always called a quad with 2 motors per arm an x8 or xy8 if it has 120 degree arm spacing. X4 should be a quad IMHO. A hex with 12 motors wouldn't be a hex6 right? It's a hex12. Seems logical to me this way. It's droidworx' nomenclature that seems to be confusing everyone. though I have to...
