My opinion is the wider the legs the better. It's pretty easy to have one of these fall over when landing in wind or on uneven ground. I've actually widened mine by an inch per arm after this photo to give me a nice base. Lots of room in there for any sized gimbal.

If this happens with low kv motors why would you want to use them? U7's/490 with 17 or 18" props will give better performance at half the price. I've seen so many x8 rigs with the above motor prop combination that fly beautifully. I also, think there is a gap left unfulfilled in the tmotor...

Exactly. I'm using 520mm legs on my retracts. Those gimbals hang quite low. Once I get the gimbal and mount it, I bet there is not much clearance even with those long legs.
