You have to de-couple the WM Assistant before it will allow the motors to be started. It is a safety feature to prevent accidental parameter changes whilst flying. Best thing is to make your changes and then turn off the WM Assistant completely in the iPhone. If it is any consolation I had to...

Well, think about it. There isn't one really is there. Polarising filters are only practical on a tripod or a very steady hand-held - not on a continually moving camera. You are basically stuck with tarting up the image in post.
