Discussion Canadian Airspace Extending into US Airspace?

Not an issue. If you're in the USA (i.e. not flying over Canada) then the airspace, by definition, is under FAA jurisdiction, and not under CAA rules. Same applies to Mexico, flying down south. The national airspace goes straight up from the border, vertically. Same with private property...

    DJI Spark

I think quite a few of us got bitten by the Micro Drone startup and are now very shy about these new little guys, in the face of top performers already in the market from people like Hubsan...

How are you doing commercial work without a pilot license?

One image to take with you. Imagine, if you will, a cork floating in the ocean, with a battery powered paddle. On calm waters, that cork will do just fine. But if a swell builds, no amount of "but I have GPS!!! GLONASS!!! a 15-minute battery life!!! and live mapping... and RTH!!! Hey, lookit...

How are you doing commercial work without a pilot license?

I think the FAA made it as easy as they could, while still remaining a somewhat meaningful hurdle to discourage people who just wanted to fly their aircraft in public airspace without regard to other fliers and their craft. This isn't about car manufacturers pushing the local authorities to...

Need Help! Can't decide between two drones

Agreed with Flying V - your choice here depends on what you want to use it for. Photos/video? Or sports/rec? Or, utility truck/medium SUV? Or sports car? Drones are planes. A jet fighter is a plane, so is a 747. Different uses, so neither is better than the other.

Discussion What "drones" do you own?

Hello Betty! So is this your very own S6? Or do you work for Tattu and just thought it would be a cool thing to post the smallest drone around to show off? :)

Discussion What "drones" do you own?

Pity. She should be, knowing that you're doing your very best to bring the bacon home. And that's a pretty darn outstanding 'very best' I see in your photos, by the way, so I'm not speaking lightly :)

    DJI Matrice

Shaun! Keep flyin' it! Psst... as if you didn't know, the N3 now runs 8 rotors and it's GLONASS and third generation and most cool! Have two in my Cinestars and they really work well. Plus the Lightbridge etc., of course, but to have a Cinestar hold like a Mavic is pretty darned cool, IMO :) I...

    DJI Matrice

Totally agree, Shaun. My Cinestars are X8 and Y8 at the moment, one carrying an A2-going-to-A3 asap, and the other still on WKM, never did get along with the MK FCs, basically started putting WKMs and Naza v2's into everything I flew, just to get some kind of consistency going across the flight...

Hex now built and flying, but want to upgrade to good quality motors.

Pauli, hello! Congrats on your build! Well, you chose wisely because a hex has mechanical redundancy so if the FC is programmed right (as well as firmware and so on) it shouldn't fall out of the sky should a motor, prop, ESC or arm fail. I'd say keep flying. Most of the Chinese motors are...

Agreed, and I heard from a little birdie somewhere that the Phantom series was going to be discontinued soon-ish... Interesting times!

    DJI Matrice

No, you're quite right. In the corporate mentality, this would be the disposable solution to a bottleneck. A company has money to burn, pilots are cheap to hire, and DJI has done its market research well. For service though, the larger Matrices or anything heavy lift with the cameras and...

    DJI Matrice

Def not excited. As a pro, the cost of such a platform is outrageous, for what it is. The A3 FC system is priced to what the market can bear, far more than a fair price. We're paying directly for their R&D, sure, but for all of it? Within a year or so they'll be out with the next one...
