Aeronavics / Droidworx Droidworx Power Distribution Board

The Attopilot current/voltage sensor is compatible with APM 2.5. When you configure the APM for the first time you can select it from a drop down as an alternative to the 3DR power module. Here's a page with full instructions and a video by the lead software developer of Ardupilot showing how...

GoPro wireless option linked to NAZA flyaways

Real men don't eat quiche and they certainly don't read instructions! :-)

    Moving up from AR Drones

I started out with 3DR copters being heavily involved with the APM project via friends. I have a 3DR quad and 3DR flat hexa and love them both. The quad is the cheapest and smallest copter of the four I own and it's my favorite because it flys so well and is so much fun. I think 3DR is good...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Interesting conversation about nomenclature. I've always wondered where the term UAV came from. There's nothing 'unmanned' about drones or UAVs. They are not autonomous and they do have a pilot. The pilot is just located outside the vehicle. As far as aerial photography goes the platform is...

GoPro wireless option linked to NAZA flyaways

Most mobile phones have wireless capability built in as well. I'm not sure how much of a risk they would be when not actively connected to a data link but I assume they are constantly searching for networks. So I wonder, are they an issue as well?

Great Trappy vs FAA attorney interview

Is there any information on how much damage or how many injuries have resulted from their flying? I think they would challenge those who think they are flying in an unsafe manner. Without some actual facts rather than opinions it's hard to evaluate.

Great Trappy vs FAA attorney interview

Unfortunately this is not true. CASA is only in the process of examining possible new policies. At the moment, if you want to do aerial photography commercially you will be looking at a long list of requirements that are much more applicable to becoming a private pilot than to flying UAVs. Your...

    Moving up from AR Drones

The choice between the 3DR Y6 and the Iris is a tough one. If only they had an Iris hexa. The Y6 is a good machine that will certainly do what you want. The Iris is good because it's the most advanced. It uses the Pixhawk flight controller which is much more powerful than the APM. But you...

    Large spark from XT90 connectors

Like you I find the sparking on connection objectionable. So I just make the connection quickly and move on. Nothing I can do about it and apparently it's normal. Just for some feedback from a fellow Droidworx flyer. I have a coax octo SkyJib. I use the Droidworx PDB being fed from two 6S 8Amp...

    Sony NEX and intervalometer software

Just did a comparison of the GX7 and the Sony NEX on dpreview.com. The GX7 looks like a great choice. Thanks for the tip Kloner. I just bought my second Sony NEX 6 after doing some unplanned underwater shooting with my previous one. :-) Wish I had seen your post first. I've had great results...

Aeronavics / Droidworx Folding your Droidworx booms and retaining motor alignment

I don't fold my coax SkyJib but I don't think folding it would have any effect on alignment. Once a Droidworx is tightened up there's just no way anything can fit without being aligned. There's no room for misalignment from what I can see.

    Worlds First Drone Photography Book

What a great idea. I've ordered on too as I want to be the first one in Australia to have one. :-)

Droidworx SkyJib Lite Ti Coax Build

Long overdue update: Well, I finally turned the corner on all this and have things working quite well. Three things caused most of my issues: 1. There was no way this bird was going to fly the intended payload with 14" props and 5S batteries. I'm really surprised that the staff at Droidworx...

    Quad is gone/fly-away

First of all, I'm so sorry for what happened. It's such a gut wrenching experience when these things happen. I keep hearing that DJI is the only equipment to use but it seems they have just as many issues as any other system given the posts I've read. But what I think is really important is...

    Liability Insurance

This is an interesting thread. I'm not in the US so things are a bit different here in Australia. But I've always wondered how anyone gets insurance in the US given that technically it's not legal to fly commercially. Why would an insurance company cover an illegal activity? Just curious.

    HDMI to Composite

Although it's not thin I have ordered a cable with a swivel head to see if it takes up less room protruding from the camera. The standard cables stick out too far to fit on the gimbal. If you are interested find another supplier than the one I've linked to as their service is just horrible...

    Flight Log for Smartphone/Tablet

Are you still using, and like, this app? I'm looking for one and notice there are a few now. Now that some time has gone by I'm interested in knowing if you are still finding it useful?

    another crash with wookong

Sounds much more like a hardware issue than an issue with the Flight Controller. I bet once it got warm something didn't like the heat.

Another Drone news story - Animal Liberation in Australia

I'm predicting a large upcoming market for Tx jamming devices. I'd love to see the operator of this particular copter have to land on the property he is photographing. That should put an end to his use of multirotors.

    Drew from Santa Cruz

Hi Drew - I'm from Santa Cruz but living in Australia now. Visited a few months ago and it's still as great now as 25 years ago. Someone in your area is shooting from MRs as a friend just sent me this link of a video taken at Steamers Lane: http://skypixel.org/post/59236289144
