    Prop Shields

few downsides 1 - shrouding limits the YAW effect from the prop, making YAW control inefective - so to counteract that you need to mount each motor at an angle, reducing efficiency, flight times, payload capacity 2 -shrouding adds weight 3 - shrouding increases "windage" the multirotor will...

Aeronavics / Droidworx Brave Move for DroidWorx - Offering RTF systems

going way off topic - shows how its changing when an Avid MR user finds it easier to charter a plane for photos Would be interesting to pursure the requirements around using a microlite Pete ? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/aircraft/aircraft/auction-602044145.htm

    Quad Spinning on Take-off

dont know that it could be props on incorrectly, as it wouldnt be able to take off, reverse thrust :D

    Quad Spinning on Take-off

did you test it before trying to fly ? hold the quad in your hand, apply a bit of power, then, if you twist the quad to the left, does it try to resist, or does it try to go left even faster ? if so, you need to either reverse your motors, and props, or swap your yaw settings in the flight...

    QuadOquads

looks very cool i see its wired/configured as a quad (each set of 4 motors spin in the same direction) so a bet its hard to keep it stable while yawing, does the controller allow X8 configuration ? that way you could run pairs at each corner, and keep better roll/pitch control while yawing

"non-square" quads - ok or not ok?

where the issue is, if the spacing between the front props is, for example, greater than the spacing between the rear props, is Yaw causing roll in the airframe, due to the motor pair that is closer to the frame, having a greater affect on roll than the ones further out This also affects the V8...

    Quadcopter racing

thats moving pretty damn fast for a multi ! i think part of the trick (apart from aerodynamics on the body) will be to find a set up that can spin a high pitch prop, and still have enough thrust to hover, with the thrust increasing as you build up speed and the props get into their proper speed...

    Quadcopter racing

will watch with interest, could be a good little competition we did some pylon racing a while ago, but turning ability counts alot more

Thoughts on the V8 frame style?

I have built most things :) apart from orientation, its the same as a flat octo but with a way to mount the camera above the props (no landing gear, less to break)

Tried something different..... here are the results.

+1 on this , having all the top props spinning the same way will cause issues with nice yaw, and also cause it to yaw noticably in forward flight (Y6's are also affected by this)

awesome bill, good positive media coverage for multi's :) looks like it was a fun job

Improving Lift without Costing Flight Time

you will have more lift, but also more weight, flight times may stay the same if the weight increase is small, and the bigger motors run more efficient/cooler just try it out, you have nothing to loose apart from an hour or so of time

    Battery full charge vs storage

just log which pack you used, and the mah to get to storage value, then later when you fully charge the battery, add that figure to the log

Building a tricopter--questions concerning the tail servo and balance

9 gram will be fine , whats teh weight of the TP MG 995 ? the problem with using the bigger servo, say if it weighs 50 grams and is 18" back from the centre, then you will need an equivalent amount of weight hanging out the front to balance. If you are running a camera, it could easily weigh...

Fast ascent causes quad to bank and pitch. Need help.

It always shoots off in the same direction ? Check your esc endpoints. Slo flying the fc has time to compensate, hit the throttle and it won't have a chance. A weak motor will also do the same (uneven thrust)

    Small X8 build - 3d Printing Parts

i wonder if that is the same as the "impact modified" PLA i buy over here - resists snapping, you can tie the filament in a knot - but prints like a ***** compared to normal PLA I have to heat the bed to 70, print 1 layer, then turn on the cooling air (if the bed isnt at 70, it lifts off) the...
