Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

I disagree. That crash was way too close to be anything other than luck that it didn't hit the skiier. Yes, the pilot actions may have improved the odds that they didn't hit him, but they never should have been in that position anyway.

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Yep. Claims that "It wasn't my fault, the robot did it." will not work.

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

Reports are stating the vehicle was a "DFC-COPTER XR1". I can't find any evidence that this is a commercial system. It's likely a home-brew from the operator. Fantastic article on the situation here: http://www.suasnews.com/2015/12/40954/40954/

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

It looks an awful lot like the Foxtech Devourer D130 V2, which is available with the ZeroUAV system which has a black GPS puck? Only, the picture doesn't appear to have upswept arms, where I think the Devourer does?

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

It doesn't look like DJI to me, unless he painted it black. I don't agree that the booms are square, I think they're round.

What other systems could that be? Xaircraft?

Question about the quad that almost fell on skier Marcel Hirscher

I came here because I figured you guys would be hot on the trail of figuring out the details. :) I'm trying to figure out which frame that is. It's hard to say, but looks highly customized, possible home-built from a kit. Doesn't look like it's direct from any of the big players. I was...

    Retracts

Well that's unfortunate. Reading reviews on RCG, the electric Robarts are junk. :(

    Retracts

These would probably do the job: http://robart.com/collections/retracts-by-aircraft-weight-12-24lbs-630-series-mains-electric/products/90-deg-electric-main-retracts-robostrut-ready

I'm highly unlikely to put anything RCT on this thing. ;) But thanks. You can have my time though, just have to set something up.

Looks like E-Flight has some not terribly priced gear that would work. And then there are electric Robarts for 24lb planes which should work for sure.

    Retracts

Hey guys, I'm actually looking for a set of gear for a 700 size camera helicopter. I bought a set from Hobby King, huge ones for a large airplane. One of them works, and one of them is defective, the shaft for one of the gear clusters is too short, and pops out of it's hole. I can warranty...

    Pixhawk PID

It's probably because you are trying to set it outside the suggested range. If you use the Full Parameters List, it will let you force the issue. You can do anything you want with no restrictions in Full Parameters List. What kind of drift? Horizontal or Vertical?

KDE Direct XF UAS ESC and Flight Controller Compatibility List

Yeah, I've recently heard from a reliable source that this is not a closed issue. Even with power supply to the ESC from the Pixhawk, they're still losing sync. The concept never really made sense to me, if the ESC's are true Optically Isolated, then they should not power up *at all* if there...

3DR Sight Gimbal for SOLO arrives at Bestbuy.com

No, not really accurate to say APM was out there, and was co-opted and/or branded. The history of APM and 3DR are intertwined to such degree it would be almost impossible to separate them. In the early days, 3DR supported the APM developers with purpose-made hardware, without which the...

    The Future of Propeller Technology

Your statements here are all correct. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed here in KDE. They make really nice stuff but... I can't get behind the technical explanation they are giving here. Lead lag is needed to allow for changing angular moment as the blades flap up and down due to either...

    T-motor ESC's heavily filtered?

Interesting review, but it's not clear to me how you're measuring that. I guess we just have to take your word for it that the PWM changed when you said it did, it's not really reflected in the trace. Then how do we see the response in the throttle output, what are we looking for? The motor...

    T-motor ESC's heavily filtered?

Hmmm... I'm pretty happy with my HW Xrotor ESC's. They don't even get warm. My concern with this X8 I'm working on, are that, it appears it will never be as stable as it could be. I have to dial back the gains to try and leave some bandwidth in the filter to leave some room for the altitude...

    T-motor ESC's heavily filtered?

Wow, so nobody knows? Anybody using Tmotor ESC's? I have to say, so far this issue has be mightily unimpressed with Tmotor. Are you really getting what you pay for? The props are indeed very nice. The motors... meh, I don't see them being much better than any number of other mid-range...
