LiPo cell failure midflight destroys my F450. Some questions.

I had a bad cell on a lipo that resulted in my craft falling out of the sky. I guess I should have noticed problems with the battery with the numerous errors received while charging. Props, and battery are two critical things that'll bring your craft quickly out of altitude. Here's my sad...

People are getting drones for Christmas and

Wall Street Journal report, FAA regulations

That full pilot's license thing is ridiculous. It's shows that the FAA is stonewalling a mandate to allow commercial use of drones or they simply have no clue. You don't need a full pilot's license to safely operate a Phantom for Real Estate photography. We are not flying transcontinental...

    Inspire 1 Owner's Thread

What do you think is the lifespan of DJI's multicopters? My crafts crashed for one reason or another, neither from DJI issues. Prop broke (got too fancy and bought a cheap carbon fiber prop that was not made correctly), and voltage drop on dying lipos. It seems with every generation of craft...

    Inspire 1 Owner's Thread

Baking in the flight restrictions was a logical step by DJI. It's the only way to ensure that regulation won't go crazy and ban flight systems. My understanding of the manual was that flight restrictions were enabled but that the operator would have a choice to disable.

Slightly OT: Anyone else having problems with bird attacks?

I've had several bird attacks. Small birds, large birds, medium birds. They are very territorial. I was even chased by a bald eagle. Since birds don't hover so well, I reduce power as much as a I can to loose altitude. Birds typically have to circle for their attack runs. lol. I find...

Will AirDog put us out of business? Drone will follow you anywhere...

This is pretty wild. I guess it's great for an open space. It may even less fly away issues since it's paired with a ground based locater.

    Ignorance is not a defense

There's really not much to see above 400 feet, but like any new toy (think of sports cars) people will test the limits.

Police helicopter forces Phantom to land

Here's a video of a Phantom operator who was forced to land by a police helicopter. The operator was detained for an hour and fined $70.00 for flying at a national park. He was also flying within 30 miles of Washington DC's no fly zone. YouTube: http://youtu.be/smxql2PXehI

    Guys PLEASE, don't do it!

    Lost Phantoms

lol. That's DJI safety feature for not following directions. It'll fly back to the factory for a new responsible owner. lol

    Lost Phantoms

lol. Just think about all those drones waiting to be found.

So where do Phanton owners get their brains?

Here's an idea for DJI and the other flight controllers on the market: Prior to taking flight the user should be required to pass a scenario based test which encompasses general AMA flight rules. Once successfully passed, the activation code will allow the Phantom or what ever RTF craft is...

So where do Phanton owners get their brains?

lol. I was expecting to see another multi bite the dust. These things are cheap and relatively easy to fly. There should be simple do's and don'ts included with these craft to help guide people in responsible flying. DJI implemented a feature that restricts the Phantom from flying near...
