Hoverfly Y6 Props - Can we change rotation

Hoverfly team,

I have been noticing that there are more options for low pitch props in the standard, tractor config (CCW) than the pusher config. As the HFP requires pusher on the top, that limits the prop choices we have if you want to get out of the APC SF scene.

For example:

I am looking at the XOAR, JXF props and would like to use 12x4 top, 12x6 bottom

This is only possible if we reverse the Y6 requirements on the HFP to CCW top, CW bottom.

Would this be an easy firmware update?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I have the hoverfly pro on my XY8 and the tops are CW/bottoms CCW as you say. But I have Xoar props that are 12x5 top and 12x7 bottom. Seems to be fine.

Do you have link to those props? That could work as well. Probably a little less efficient then the 12x4/12x6, but really would need a test to be able to differentiate

Doing this doesn't require a firmware update. Just swap which port the motor connects to. Connect the bottom motors to the ports for the top motors on the HFP. Just make sure your top props now spin the opposite direction.

Duh! I would have not thought of that since it is counter intuitive to the diagram. Good to know if this ever comes up. I'm pretty happy with things the way they are though.

Interesting and thanks for the input. So whatever you have for motor mixing is symmetric between too and bottom motors? Has this been tested?

I've tested this with the X8 and Y6, though not with all motors, just swapping one axis. But based upon that, there is no reason it wouldn't work for all motors if done correctly.
