Hello everyone,
I'm still a beginner.I builded for my xaircraft Hexa with Naza,Ake 12A ESC, Lipo 3S 5000MAh. I have to be very gentle on the sticks JR 9303. Increase from midstick to climb, and decrease from midstick to descend so very boost :nevreness:. There is no adjust to control speed in program. ESC mode normal. Should I have to recalibrate each esc again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rwilabee, Xaircraft don't make frame cover for Hexa. I use xaircraft x650 frame cover attached.

First off, are you in normal or attitude mode when flying?
Normal can be twitchy, so if you were, try it in attitude.
12A esc's sounds awful small, what motors are you using? I take it you calibrated them once, what are your settings?

Hi Tomstoy2,
I bought Xaircraft Xena from CNChelicopter.AKE QD1100B Brushless. I use an attitude mode.
Two weeks ago My setting was first swtich on TX then move throttle up then connect battery to ESC then wait for about 5 seconds
then move the throttle down then take about 15 seconds then disconnected battery. Am I correct setting? I can't hear beeps cuz I'm deaf.

Ok, all you have done it to let the esc know the high and low end point. What you need to do next is to program the esc's.
To do this, you will either need a program card from your esc manufacturer or help from somebody since you can not hear the beeps.

If you did not recieve an instruction sheet with the ecs's, you can go on-line and find it. Study it well.

Basically, you will need to plug the red wire back into the connectors, and disconnect all but one motor so whomever helps you out can concentrate on just listening to one motor beep. Make sure the live motor does not have a prop attached.

You will then plug the connector directly into the throttle port of your reciever. Turn on your transmitter with the throttle stick at the high setting, then connect the main battery.

The esc will give off it's initial beeps, normally a 3 beep of different tones, meaning it is armed, the a 3 beep of the same tone, meaning is recognises a 3 cell battery, or 4 is using 4s.

Next will be a pause of a few seconds the several beeps, meaning it is in program mode.

Normally, there are 8 steps to programming. For step 1, there will be a single short beep, a pause, then it will beep again for the first setting of that step, a short pause, a 2 beep tone for the second setting of that step, a short pause, and a 3 beep tone for the 3rd setting of that step.
To select which step to enter, just pull the stick down, wait for the confirming beep and then move the stick back up.

After you move the stick back up, there will then be 2 short beeps, meaning it is now in the second step, followed by a pause, then beeps for each setting point of that step, just like above.

When you get to step 5 of the programming, then the beeps change, usually. Such as a short beep, followed by a longer beep, meaning it is in step 5. This is why it is important to read the set-up instructions.

Finally, when you get to the last step of the programming, this is the exit. It is important finish the last programming step or it will not save your programming.

The only things you really need to change are the battery step, set it to NiCd, and the motor timing, set it to medium.

Once you know how to understand the beep sequence it is really easy to do and saves you money.

When done, don't forget to remove your red wire before plugging the esc back into your Naza and remember to double check your motor rotation when all done.

The motor will not spin when programming, but make sure that the props are removed, as it will when the exit is completed and you bring the stick back down and up again.

Hope this helps you.

p.s. I just checked out your motors, they have a continuous current of 16 amps, so your esc's are small. You will probably get by as long as you don't throw the throttle stick to high position, but you really ought to plan on replacing them as the last thing you want them to do is shut down in flight.
Personally, i go larger than the motor rating, so the esc can never get over-loaded. The harder an esc works, the more heat it generates, and heat is never a good thing.

Thanks for explaining and helpful. A few days ago I already ordered program card hobbywing but I will receive it in a few weeks. I will borrow my friend's program card soon. I'm not good to set the program mode steps beeps. I'm using Lipo battery. Change battery set it to Nicad?
Program card set
1 brake- off
2 Battery type - Nicad
3 Cut off type soft cut or cut-off? Which one?
4 cut off voltage Low or middle or high? Which one?
5 start mode (Normal) or soft or very soft? correct?
6 Timing mode (Middle)
7 music
8 govener mode OFF

Im planning to get DJI ESC 30A later. I have 8 of Brushless NTM prop drive
Series 28-30A 750kv/140W from hobbyking. Is it good?

Hi Great Thanks again!
Two weeks ago I used same TX JR 9303 and different spektrum receiver to set up on esc know for
the high and low end point but a few days ago I received new receiver Orange-RX. Does it recalibrate again?
Today I recently removed whole wires from Naza. I plugs the 6 red wire back into the connectors

Step 1...Should I do recalibrate again?
plug the connector into the throttle port of receiver then Turn on TX with the throttle stick
up at connect the main battery then takes 2-5 seconds after move to low throttle and beeps
2- 5 seconds then disconnected battery then next step 2?

I will pick program card up at my friend's place by tmrw

Step 2....
main battery, and ESC plug the connector to program card then 3S lipo to esc
set program card
1 brake- off
2 Battery type - Nicad
3 Cut off type soft cut
4 cut off voltage Low
5 start mode soft
6 Timing mode (Middle)
7 music
8 govener mode OFF

I am building a new XA Hexa frame with standardd motors and Naza flight controller with AKE 12A ESC's and was wondering after reading through this post which programming card was being used with the AKE 12A ESC? I am almost deaf and can't hear the tones real good and a card would be a big help to me.

Thanks for your help.

Edit: Found my answer in the video and the thread after I read through it again. I went with the Turnigy programming card from Hobby King because it has the battery plug on the card and it is compatible with the Hobby Wing plus it's available in the USA.

Hello capman231,
Welcome! That's Helpful Hints for P-Card to use. Enjoy and build it on your a new XA Hexa. Have u hover it yet?. My Gaui 500x had a DJI Wookong-M on it before the swap, the WKM is moving to my new S-800. I recently installed a new Naza on Gaui 500x. Test hovering it this weekend.

Hello Zzr,

Probably won't start the build on my XA Hexa until next weekend or when ever I finish the big plane that's in my shop right now. Just been reading and trying to learn what I could about Multi Rotors. Been flying Helis since before the days of even a regular Gyro. The modern day electronics is amazing in what it can do. Can you tell me what you had the gains on the Naza set at on your first flight and what you wound up with them on afterwards? Anything you can tell me about your experience with yours will be greatly appreciated. My Hexa will be stock XA except for the AKE ESC's.

Awesome! What kind of your big Plane? I had big plane Extra 330L in a few years ago but it sold out. In 2 years ago I bought CMP Electric 330. I have done build it but no flow it yet. I was new to my hobby for (multirotors) I've just started flying my Gaui 500x since 6 months ago. Mine default setting Naza on my Gaui500x and It flow fine.I will test fly on my Hexa again but default setting, Type Hex-rotor V and mounting forwarding. I flow my hexa for twice since. I almost flow for my Gaui 500x. Good luck on your Hexa.
